No im a fan of 06 07 original osrs.

i played osrs when it first came out and there wasnt shit to do, cant imagine playin 2004 version tbqh

They are continiously rolling out new versions (they recently rolled out special attacks) they develop with the same timeline that Jagex did back then.
Alot was lost, cause Jagex did not have decent backups back then, so the devs, have been gone through 10000's of videos and files to recreate everything. I never liked playing private servers but this is something else

I get what you were saying but, the gold's standard in my opinion is right before the introduction of the grand exchange.. I don't want any other updates at all.

Yeh everyone has it's own interests. Imo, this is RS legacy in the make everything is also opensource, so code is available in public. You could even host your own if you'd like or setup a test environment.
During these 4 months they also introcuded 2001 rare items, so in the weekend you'll get a chance to get a random rare in your inv (this is code that's not in the legacy code, and isnt public)

If Jagex makes it, sure people would play. But the updates they do on osrs, nobody is going to play 04 scape.

You’re wrong there the devs of 2004scape are way more capable then the current osrs jagex team. The antibot systems in place are way more advanced. And no mercy for botting there, get caught insta perm ban.

How populated is this 04 private server?
