Yeah well that's interesting what you write there. Because it's like this. We should learn more about talking about economics, in school. Also in the family. We should talk about it, get involved, make sure we steer our own course.

I.e.. A family could be one unit. COULD! That would depend on everyone pulling the rope, and living at least halfway responsibly. I could tolerate someone having a hard time, down and out, depression, withdrawal, wanting to go their own way for years. I can understand that. But not spending frivolously and causing harm to the family.

To me, it's then like this. A family should be able to communicate. A person can go renegade, but then make that CLEAR to the family. That they won't contribute, and so should understand that they cannot rely on much or any support from the family. A little bit should be okay, to show that there is a bond. But of course that should also depend on the level of opposition. I've read about people going completely nuts, screwing their family over for big loans, i.e. putting their family in debt. And that's legal, too.

So there must be strong legal bonds. A family should talk about these things, and implement them. Not in the way of being mean, but safety. And if same said person would only want to just -relax- for a few months, or maybe a year or two, but still contribute in the way of helping out, say maintenance, baby care and such, then they should get support from the family.

But also, this is the last thing. I don't want to use the word "play". But one should keep it in mind, that trying to get help from the government, if finding a job is impossible, is NOT weakness, nor is it wrong to do. It is GOOD to get help, to get support, to be able to keep a solid life going. Because without financial support, that simply is almost impossble. I.e. living in a shit cheap camper van in some criminal camper van park or similar. Not ideal to live like that. But possible.

And then, so, balancing these two things, getting help from the government, but also involving family, is a wise thing to do. For Everyone. Because if one feels that one has ZERO support in this life, increasing risk for bad things quickly follow, i.e. prostitution, stealing, violencee, etc. Nobody should have to live like that.

And then the previously mentioned stuff i wrote about, learning in school, for those that have no family or difficult family bonds. Make business deals with others. Live together, work together, live clean, save money, make something happen. Instead of just lettin it go to shit.

But yes. Your last point: Taking a lesson is the wisest thing. I've done that. Surely you too. Yes, i can help, a little bit. But i have limits too. The government must step up also. And if they had implemented courses like i mentioned, heh, well, everyone would become so much more self reliant. We're all family.
