i had something similar that did cause realm downs and d/c dove me up a fucking wall. it was the wifi antenna as it was cheap. buy an expensive wifi 6 or 7 antenna and ensure you have correct drivers installed in your kernel. dropping packets over the network means validation checks on bnets side will fail like keep alive packets / heart beat so chars can drop from game. its similar to pulling the ethernet cord out when connected then plugging it back in. i was locked out of bnet for an entire week because the connection dropped but bnet still thought my char was connected to bnet so it just dropped from game and was in the channel until bnet auto dissconnected the client.

also if you do have system lag its very possible the motherboard / a sata cable or even the hard drive could be failing. i would disassemble the system and validate each part. ensure the hardware is clean, correctly assembled, firmware up to date, update the os, and monitor real time system power use (cpu / mem). when programs fail it can make all cores run at 100 and throttle up fans. i use indicator-multiload to monitor real time processors memory network and swap.

it could be nothing is wrong with your system other then the specs might be low and you are operating near 90-99 system load and processes start to load into swap or write to disk if swap gets full. this should not happen if you have a quality system. i disabled swap on my system because i have the ram for it (128 gb) and even this is not enough as im usually around 70 gb / 90 gb with everything running but zero lag.
