I’d say genocide would look like targeting every living soul in Gaza with the clear goal of extermination, not just Hamas officials. It would mean extermination camps, mass executions, death squads, systematic rapes, and public officials openly calling to kill all Palestinians, not just defeat a terror group.

If that were the case, I wouldn’t support it, and I wouldn’t go to war for it. And I genuinely believe most Israelis wouldn’t either. We’re fighting Hamas, not committing genocide, and it’s important to keep that distinction clear.

That’s a false dichotomy. Even the most advanced militaries can have catastrophic intelligence failures Pearl Harbor, 9/11, the Yom Kippur War. One doesn’t cancel the other. Success in complex, high-level operations doesn’t mean they’re immune to being blindsided, especially by enemies who exploit complacency or exploit political assumptions. Competence isn’t a constant, it fluctuates and October 7 proved that painfully.
