Maryland utilizes a multi-faceted flood warning system to alert residents to potential dangers. This includes both technological advancements like IoT sensors and community-based initiatives, such as the MdReady alert system and outdoor tone-based alert systems. These systems work in conjunction with established emergency broadcast systems and weather alerts from the National Weather Service.
Do you think more states could use such a system, and who should pay for it?
Should the state pay for it, or be a federally funded program?
Maryland can’t even afford this system. Their governor took office in January 2023 with a 5 billion dollar surplus into a 3.3 billion dollar deficit 😂
