Why?

Because I like the topic.

How about you come to your point instead of this stupid one-liner-build up. Your point is that I have just proven free will, right?

Well if you think its that simple, then why do you think I made that topic?
No its not that simple, okay. This wont be your gotcha moment, I promise you that.

Clearly he was forced.

The outcome of a coin flip is deterministic in nature.
Is that enough reason for you to say its a forced outcome?

If yes, who forced it? Nature? Sure, if thats your argument, then yes. I was forced by nature.

I'm pretty cynical about this. Free will is probably just amalgamation of different factors that a sufficiently intelligent animal calls consciousness, self-awareness, choice, etc. But that doesn't promote said intelligent animal above meat puppet status. And that's just what we are. Meat puppets intelligent enough to discuss this concept, but not intelligent enough to break free of our slavery to our environment and genetics. As I get older, this is what I'm perceiving of humans, especially with the NPC/firmware meme being one of the defining "truth imitates fiction" phenoms of our time.

Thats pretty accurate I would say. Its a good kind of slavery tho, because its subtile enough to let us feel like we are in control. Which is all that really matters in the end.
A legit stance in my opinion would be to say that free will is real enough to just ignore the topic. I can totally understand that point of view.

Good question. What humans usually mean when they say "Free Will" is that we humans and we alone are responsable for our own decisions.
No other being or force is in control but ourselves. At least thats what I always meant by the term.

What if there are other forces, but "free will" is meant to describe having executive override so that even with the presence of other forces, we retain agency.

as far as i know only atheists play around with the "no free will" argument. i think they do it because they think it a clever slippery excuse for not believing.

hitchens once made the argument he thought it clever. "you have free will because you dont have a choice" but that was actually stupid. you have free will because you dohave a choice
