Long time Diablo fan here. Still very active in D2R. I've binged through D4 and the expansion over the weekend and I'm left with several questions that I can't find answers to on Google or at the very least none that I can understand. A little background, I'm currently using a Dance of Knives Rouge level 60 paragon 70.

1, How do people trade using jsp? As far as I know you can only trade with friends in your friend list.

2, *Spoiler Warning* I no longer see the gold quest icons in the map or quest objectives. Did I beat the game? Ormus had me do a bunch of random quests, then he gave me a bunch of loot after doing a pit run. Was that it? It was a bit anticlimactic. No Meph fight?

3, As of right now, I'm running Hell Tide in Torment 1. I tried one of those boss dungeons and I got WRECKED (1 shotted). When I look up guides, I see people with gear 15 times better than mine. For example, I have a Legendary Ancestral Dagger that does 290+ base damage; however, all the guides/videos show people with 3000+ base damage items. How do I get those?

4, I see lot of references of World Tier 2-3 and leveling to level 100. I'm assuming that was pre-expansion. I just want to confirm that's the case, there isn't some quest I'm missing to allow me to get beyond level 60.

I appreciate the help!

1) You add the person to your friends list, and either trade via Mediator or trade in D4, but do not mention JSP. Do all of your communication through PM on JSP and/or use a mediator.

2) If you press W, you will have your journey laid out there for how you get your extra skill/talent/paragon points to use. When you finish this and you do the seasonal Journey, you will have "completed the game". However, there is always the grind for paragon 300. Where you end your grind is up to you but the new season is in a week or two I'm sure.

3) Likelihood is that you're using a sub par build and aren't augmenting your gear correctly using the two systems to do so. The main one being taking advantage of the Masterworking of your gear after you get done tempering your gear. Tempering is where a LOT of your power of your character actually comes from.

4) T3 is where they expect the majority of people to be able to play/farm relatively easily. A-S tier builds will be able to do T4 content with ease. Torment 4 is just extra drops but honestly, you can do the same and have 1-2 less drops in Torment 3 and not die as much.

Biggest thing is to make sure you Temper properly and then masterwork everything evenly. Get to 4/8[12} masterworking everything, then working 8/8{12} if you have GA.

Thank you for the input. I'll give what you said a shot. Got any good guides on Tempering? I thought I did some of that, but I just get to re-roll weak stuff that doesn't add much to the base damage of an item.

You don't want to worry about the base damage of any item. It's all about multipliers in this game now, and how best you can stack situational buffs. Take the current meta for Rogues being Death Trap. Several of the build guilds revolve around entering/exiting stealth and having a multiplier added to abilities/damage done after exiting stealth.

WW barbs are not about how hard their whirlwind hits, but the dust devils that proc doing the actual damage, or the bleed doing the damage.

Lightning spear builds are not about just spamming lightning spear but spamming your primary cast ability to reduce your cooldown for endless teleports.

All of these builds have some stupid ass way of stacking/multiplying damage that makes some builds {your build as Dance of Knives not being the current meta and not really able to do much other than T1-T2 content}.

I could literally spend 30 minutes with you running a couple of bosses/pits and having you clearing T4 content as a Death Trap rogue. It is that ridiculous.

In terms of guides for tempering it's pretty straight forward, but the are guides out there for you to follow in terms of stats and what to temper/masterwork. However, very few guides for your build as again, it's very much not meta therefore no one tries it. DoK is generally considered a starter build right now : https://mobalytics.gg/diablo-4/builds/rogue/dance-of-knives

That is very helpful. I plan on going meta very soon, my plan was to use DoK until I can farm the gear and then switch to something else. I'm under the impression that Death Trap is very dependent on gear.

It is dependent on gear but you don't need good gear to do it. You just need the tempers and the uniques. I can have you in T4 content in literally 30 minutes.

Overall follow Meta builds each season: easiest to trade/sell, strongest and most guides. And gearing is easy, atleast getting the base gear to make a build work. Min-maxing and getting perfect GA/Masterworking is where the grind starts, however T4 is doable with a Meta build with basic gear already (+tempers, masterworking etc ofc).

I remember playing without any tempers until VERY late in the game, each of my gear was worth 10-50B then I was like tempering? What's that?

Mostly, lol. after about a month of playing and the season ending, I can do T3 rather easily but can't get into T4. I'm still using Dance of Knives, and I attempted 3 or 4 different builds. None of which I have the mythics to complete. Example, the Death Trap build. I've found several guides, but I can't get it to constantly retrigger. I tried Barrage since I found a really nice Ancestral Windforce, I couldn't get that to do any damage; and I would run out of resources. So yeah.. I think, I ultimately need to focus on Death Trap, but I need the mythics to pull it off.
