No, as long as they dont threat us directly

Is Syria threatening you directly? If not, why don't you give back the occupied Golan Heights? There is clearly a tacit understanding between Israel and al-Sharaa to stay out of each other's business, so why continue the occupation?

Why would we give any land fought in defensive wars?

That's called good will. Some say it's one of the virtues, but they're probably lying :)

Good will with an Arabic dictatorship that changes hands every 25-30 years?
Thats western logic it doesnt work in this part of the world

Besides Syria gained its independence on 1946, they lost this part of the land in 1967, Golan heights is more Israeli than it is Syrian.

But-t-t, didn’t most of you move there from Europe at the beginning of the last century? So it turns out you lived in isolation for centuries, refusing to integrate into society. Kind of reminds me of Muslims. Don’t you think?

Why are you gaining territory in "defensive" wars in the first place? That sounds like an invasion to me. It sounds like a country hellbent on expansion and stealing land. A country that has their child-killer soldiers wearing "Greater Israel" iconography.

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has suggested that Israel is destined to expand to include Jordan, and even beyond, to parts of Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and even Iraq.

Because this land still officially belongs to Syria according to international law. The moral and legal justification for Israel occupying it is the strategic value of the place in fending off threats from Syria. That logic no longer holds, but you keep the Golan anyway, in spite of a lack of a "direct threat".

And just for the record: I'm mostly pro-Israel and totally agree with you guys asserting yourself in a hostile environment, agree with you guys doing what's strategically smart. My argument is just that in doing so, Israel has to occassionally be a dick to its neighbors and engage in behavior which takes place in a legal and moral grey zone. Which brings me back to my earlier point that Israel only "is no threat to its neighbors" as long as there are no conflicts of interest.
