Hello

I have Starlink as an internet provider (only internet available where I live) and when I run a speed test on the Starllink app on my cell phone, it shows very fast: 340 DL 30 UL and 27 ms

On my computer it shows really slow, and I am trying to play D4 and have a hard time even teleporting because I lag so much...
The image shows the results of the speedtest on my computer...
The modem is about 5 meters away from the computer.
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you in advance

Are you able to be hardwired? (connected to the modem/router via ethernet)

You can try updating your wifi drivers if you are committed to just being connected via wifi

update wifi drivers, connect to 5ghz if you havent already.
enable high performance mode on your laptop, perhaps it throttles the connection.
perhaps your wifi adapter is really cheap or failing.
if your laptop uses a HDD, writing speeds will bottleneck your download speed.
check for background downloads (perhaps the pc is trying to update?) this can sometimes slow down your general connection speed if the system runs into bottlenecks hardware or softwarre wise.
restart the laptop after it's fully updated.
if all else fails, try ethernet connection.

I also have star link and when i use the app on my phone it always shows a faster speed then whats on my PC that's hard wired. I would make sure the star link dish is in a good spot facing north and has a clear view around it. Whats already been mentioned i would make sure it is up to date as this can interfere with your connection as well. I tried playing D4 with star link and i could barely walk around town when i tried it...was super laggy even with all my settings turned down. I just ran a speed test and currently getting 200Download 35 Upload with 30ping.

The dish is fine and in a good direction with no obstacles, partly cloudy...
Sometimes I can play and it's alright, but today it's killing me..

How do I connect to 5ghz?
How do I enable performance mode?
How do I check the wifi adaptor? The laptop is new
How do I check background dowloads?
What is ethernet connection.

Explain as if you were to a 5 year old plz... haha

How do I connect to 5ghz? -> it should connect to 5g automatically if your ssid supports both 2.4 and 5ghz (assuming your phone connects to the same ssid, you dont need to do anything here)
How do I enable performance mode? -> Right click your battery and check power options (most likely running on balanced) -> switch to high performance to allow the computer to utilize everything at max capacity when needed.
How do I check the wifi adaptor? The laptop is new -> google the model of your laptop
How do I check background dowloads? -> check task manager for things that uses bandwidth
What is ethernet connection. -> cable connection

it's also possible that the laptop thermal throttles (overheats) which would force the laptop to throttle the CPU which in turn may slow down connection, among other things, causing stutter, lag and bad ping.
Eg, if it runs fine for 20 minutes and then starts lagging, that may point towards throttling. if not, then the issue (if none of the above) may be a modem problem.

Your best bet is to try with cable. this will ensure that you wont have to deal with signal problems and make use of the full capacity of your connection.

I changed the performance mode!
It is not overheating as it's in a room with air conditioning and over a fan board.
Sometimes I have this lag when the computer is running low on battery because I didn't notice it was uplugged, but this is not the case.
I can,t find the wifi adapter, but the computer is a Katana 15 B13VEK

With the driver updated and the performance changed I'll try to log in and see how it goes :)

Thanks so much you are good at explaining
