...why is that so rare? I dont get it.

Well it's a nowadays commonity to marry those two factors.

Also political reasons, it's easy to get an upvote if you support religion

I am leaning towards right in many topics without believing in any divine stuff. Of course thats possible*lol

Being opposed to religious authority is fundamentally left wing. You probably agree with alot of normal, sane, sensible policy that is which isn't right or left wing but just basic common sense. The problem is that basic common sense has been associated with the right wing in the present because the present far left wing radicals are batshit

In my opinion alot of right vs left has been changed with respect to old definitions, for example I'm quite "left wing" on certain economic policy (greedy corporate fat cats must be reigned in with an iron fist) but I consider myself fundamentally right wing

It makes a lot of sense because if you read the words of Jesus Christ, you would not be a right-winger. He is almost fundamentally against everything right-wing beliefs are aligned with.

How the right managed to consolidate and twist the message of Christ is beyond me.

Mark 12:17: "Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him."

Jesus supported the concept of Imperial authority while simultaneously not recognizing Caesar as God. He was not an anarchist and recognized that the Emperor had legitimate worldly authority while still not being fully in-line with God.

But he WAS a trailblazer and went against many societal norms, particularly in favor of being merciful, peaceful, and sharing. There's a lot of ways his words can be framed in support of either. Obviously I'm not foolish enough to say Jesus was left-wing or right-wing because these are flimsy modern day ideas.

He was killed by the state because his ideology struck that much fear into those in power. So take that for what you will.

Completely agree. He wasn't right or left, which are worldly attributes, He transcended such worldly trivialities
