Cruel and Master = alvl 56

Berserker axe has a really high qlvl = 85



When an item is generated that has prefixes the alvl is calculated* from ilvl and qlvl as follows:

*all calculations use integers so there are no fractions at any step.

So this means any level char up to 81 that imbues an eth zerk will have an item with alvl =71, so anything can spawn on it.

Greater than 81 will use the formula alvl = ilvl - qlvl/2

So a level 82 would have an ilvl = 86.. - (85/2) = alvl 44.

So a level 82 doing imbue on an eth BA would actually not result in high enough alvl to spawn cruel or masters. Would need 98+ to imbue eth BA and hit alvl 56+

So for BA use this rule, eth zerker level 80 or less (8 is fine)
For clvl 80+ use eth war axe or eth Naga... lower qlvl means this formula alvl=ilvl-qlvl/2 will give an alvl > 56

So from just character level 8 I'd be able to roll a cruel / masters etc BA? Until I were level 81?

So I did the math and using a legendary mallet I'd get to an alvl of 65.

But where I still don't get is where you got the up to level 81 part on the BA imbue.

The BA from 8-81 will generate the alvl at 71.

A legendary mallet should be alvl 65 I'm guessing?

But where does character level get into the equation? I didn't see any part of the equations where clvl comes into play...

That is a separate formula for determining ilvl of an imbue

ilvl = clvl + 4 for imbued items

So a level 8 imbue would give a rare with an ilvl 12.

Then you have the above formula, where the qlvl overrides the ilvl to determine affix level because qlvl > ilvl

Legendary mallet is qlvl 82, running the formula if imbued by a level 8

Alvl 56+ can spawn cruel and masters

1 last detail is max sockets, on circlets-diadem ilvl 26+ is needed for 2 sockets if a mechanics mod is rolled. That is the real ilvl of the item not the one used for this formula that gets modified by qlvl. It's only a concern for circlets every other item that can get more than 2+ sockets can have ilvl 1-25 and get 2 sockets.

I still don't exactly see how you got to the level 81 cutoff on the BA. So I get how to calculate the alvl and everything but I don't quite understand how to find the level range I need to imbue a legendary mallet or whatever other base before the cutoff / needing level 99.

I'll probably be able to figure out all the other ones if I can just get understood on the BA or legendary mallet calculations

No it was actually a mistake on my part disregard that bit lmao, just at 81 the ilvl is high enough it over rides the qlvl in the ilvl < qlvl bit because of clvl +4

I don't think anyone understand any of the formulas posted on d2jsp. I mean, nobody understands those. And nobody is going to take the time to learn to use advanced calculator functions.

Why not break it down to simple math equations so everyone can understand it? A little bit more work but everyone will understand. Isn't that better?

Well i don't think so. It would be fun to see it broken down to more simple calculations. No formulas .... make it super easy to understand. N after a time, i worked at the place where all the drivers interwened, n exhnacnged goods. I run it alone. N after 1 year, i had efficientized the system which had been chaos for 12 years n nobody could figureo ut.
