Besides statehood is a relatively new concept. Just because there are people without a state doesn't mean there aren't a people and culture that identify with it.

Palestinians are the people of their land. The European invaders are not.

The Palestinians are the closer descendants of the Kingdom of Judea and the Kingdom of Israel. The state that is Israel is a bastardization of our biblical past. It is one of the greatest falsehoods of our time.
