It hasn’t been tried to this extent. Know what HAS been tried for 50+ years? Peace negotiations led by the US and other world leaders. Nothing has achieved as much success as this brutality has. When brutality works and civility hasn’t of course Israel will choose the one that gets results.

Israel chooses to keep these conflicts going, like a small controlled burn when they indeed have the ability to squash them out. If not entirely, much more than they do. Its beneficial for the Israel regime to be in conflict so they have justification for endless US fire hose of aid. The Israel citizens are being used as much as the Palestinians in this regard. Beyond that, Netenyahu is a war monger, done it before, doing it now. His track record for closing out conflicts is non existent it seems.

Netenyahu himself advocated to topple Iraq, Syria, Iran -- to stabilize the region. One left to go

So…do you think Benny boy paid those Hamas members to kidnap, rape and kill those Israelis?

How could Mossad top tier intelligence agency miss Oct 7th? 5 people can barely keep a secret and they got surprised by a mass attack.

If anything Netenyahu should have been replaced for the failure

yep. but my view is that this repeated mowing of the lawn, in Gaza and Iran is the foundation of future conflicts. This point is something which eludes our Israeli...entities, in this thread. They are convinced that this is the war to end all wars and never again will they be exposed. It really is baffling how they can retain this mindset.

inaccurate. Gaza is nothing similar and it's a one huge problem. Gaza is something else, it's not the same as the other i will mention here.

1. no one on earth can predict if "this war is the end of all wars" im not making any statement like that, so i don't know why you pointed out that i or any other Israeli here mentioned it.
what i said is i am happy it's now, and not in my children's time ( since if it was, the Iranian will already get nukes ).

2. Iran's war was crucial to open at this point. we took a stance, i agree with it for several important reasons.

3. second Lebanon war : the northern border was quiet for around 16 years. being an Iranian proxy, they entered the war after Oct 7 , and low-balled Israel until we decided to open it up to the point of no return for them.

4. previous Israeli wars - Egypt \ Jordan \ Syria.. no wars, nothing rose from the dead for decades. if something landed from Yemen, Syria etc.. all Iranian militias. that is why i wrote the #2 here.

it seems to me, that what you lack is a bit of close\personal understanding of an average Hamas or even Houthi state of mind. i don't know how to make it clear the way i can speak in my own language, but i will try my best -
if you can't understand the vast difference between us in Israel to lets just say Hezbollah\Hamas terrorist, i can't really convince you that they are living in the past. they will kill themselves to kill Jews, the hatred is in thier bones and it's not something
you can understand if you aren't familiar with them.

free advice: buy oil stocks.

To me this still is a huge fucking anomaly. Mossad the most sophisticated Intel agency in the world, that knows in what room of a random house of a random apartment building their target is and can strike with precision did not get wind of literally a massive attack, that would have been planned for many months ahead.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but i think they let it happen. Fast forward to today, Assad gone, Hamas basically gone, Hezbollah in shambles, Iran on the brink and guess what was the catalyst for all of it?

Oct7 was a fuck up. military, intelligent, arrogance, idiots that failed to act on time etc.

Mossad specifically is not one of those failures.

other departments are, the Mossad isn't.

not gonna write more on it.

That's my thought. A planned loss providing the necessary rational for their response.

I think more and more are coming to that general conclusion.

I don't think it's even tinfoil hat level to be honest. A measured sacrifice, nothing more.

I think this is right. I've mentioned before that keeping your military in a state of perpetual warfare is necessary to keep them hard - keep them 'blooded', along with real-world testing of equipment and technologies. A military with zero conflict becomes soft and weak within one generation, then the nation either falls to decadence or falls to a stronger external enemy.

I feel the only alternative to "mowing the lawn" every so often (which correctly points out does not solve the problem, it causes perpetual trauma to every generation) is just straight up ethnic cleansing & colonization. The problem with the latter strategy is that the Palestinians have made enemies out of all of their ethnic neighbours- Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt. So none of those states want to take them in because of their past history of coming in and trying to kill them all. Then the only other solution sans genocide which isn't morally acceptable is to establish another colony for them on uninhabited land. Problem with that is that in the present year everywhere is inhabited.

Is it plausible that Mossad didn't catch wind of Hamas gathering missiles for months to prepare a massive attack? Not really.
Is it plausible that Mossad missed that a few hundred Hamas fighters were hiding their parachutes somewhere and would use the missile barrage as a distraction to get over the border wall? I think yes.

Maybe they ignored the imminent missile attack because they thought their missile defense would handle it and it wouldn't amount to much. Or perhaps they wanted this attack to serve as a reminder for the wider Israeli society how dangerous Hamas/the Palestinians are, and how important Mossad and the IDF are. (Keep in mind that there were sustained mass protests by the leftists and appeasnik factions in 2022 and 2023 before 10/7, making it looking likely that the Netanyahu government would soon be replaced by a more liberal government.)

Netanyahu clearly has a vested interest in keeping this conflict going because he knows that his political career will be done pretty much as soon as it's over. That, rather than trying to gobble up US money, is imho the reason why he was dragging the war out.
