Without Israel the U.S. loses so much intel and a key strategic location in the middle east. It makes it MUCH easier to address regional threats over there.
When people ask why does the U.S. help other countries so much. Democracy...thats why. You want to be forced to speak Chinese or Russian or worse have your country constantly hit with terrorist?

As for strategic positioning, US can position its Navy to strategically impact any part of ME. The ground game is negligible minus some ports.
As for helping other countries, 100% it's good for US diplomacy and foreign policy direction. Its also simultaneously true Israel receives a disproportionate amount of US aid (hundreds of billions with billions annually) with pathetic returns (liabilities)
