I've got 2 computers that aren't cooperating

One keeps freezing up after I get logged in and use it for about 10mins, what's causing this?

And the other one the screen goes black frequently off and on, I know it's not the monitor because it's brand new, what would be causing this?

could be summer temps related
1st one either CPU or GPU overheating
2nd could be the video output from mobo or GPU depending on where the screen is plugged in

just in case would just clean up the computer fans (CPU fan, GPU fans, computer case's fans)
and change the thermal pastes on both CPU and GPU

then overall getting a better airflow for the room they been at

additionally would make sure all the softwares and operating system are all updated to the latests drivers and whatnot

and last step as last ditch effort just in case nothing is working, always good to check on the RAM if everything alright there by just unplugging them and replugging them
in some cases changing hardware around does a clear CMOS of the BIOS so would also go back to BIOS to set the RAM at the proper speeds or whatever u had setup before

then if still nothing working at that point would just install the operating system again fresh on a new drive and then cry or whatever cause computers do be like that sometimes

oh and would also try a different HDMI cable on that one too
if the problem is not from the screen nor the computer and that everything still runs fine but just loosing screen then faulty cables can be troublesome as well
or could also be from computer side where the HDMI port might not hold the cable in place properly anymore and just a bit of movement there would make u loose the screen connection

anyways, good luck on the troubleshooting

For the first issue - get it to freeze again and note the exact time that it happens. Then restart the computer and go to Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System > Filter by Date and Time and then see if there's any errors or warnings around the time it froze.

The second one - If the monitor is new it could also be defective. Try using a different monitor, or use that same monitor on a different computer to see if it does the same thing. If it's plugged in via DisplayPort, try using HDMI and vice versa. Could also be a display driver that got corrupted that you need to update or reinstall

Any other inputs?

idk, just try to move some hardware around to narrow down what's causing the issues
even ssds can overheat as well and freeze the OS

so yea, just move some hardware around with like the drive from one to the other, whatever u can think of
and if is software related, just try different Linux distros, there's many of them
and even regarding blue screens of death, when windows having those, Linux could run perfectly fine

tldr for troubleshooting:
- try different hardware
- try different software

For the monitor thing most of the time it’s caused by not having the latest drivers
