Mate, what you write simply does not add up. The regions that voted for Trzaskowski are both former Polish lands occupied by Prussia, as well as former German lands. But it is not the "land" that votes, but the people, and even in the former German lands there are no Germans.
Additionally, the east-west division is only one, apart from that there is a division by education (the higher the education, the more votes for Trzaskowski), a division by size of town (large cities Trzaskowski, villages Nawrocki), a division by gender (men Nawrocki, women Trzaskowski)

I was just being a smart ass about reverse annexing yourself. But this whole thing about "Polish lands occupied by Prussia" is nonsense. They're part of Poland now, but before 1945, Brandenburg, Pomerania, and East Prussia had only ever had tiny Polish minorities. Even as far as direct rule, outside of a brief period with Duchy Prussia as a vassal. Those lands were abso-fucking-lutely German and not Polish. The expulsion of Germans from those areas constitutes a massive displacement and genocide with little precedent other than revenge.

The Poles are pros at rewriting history. Warsaw was ~30% Jewish pre WW2, but don't ask the Poles about what happened to those Jews. In their history books the evil Germans came and slaughtered those Jews, in reality, the Polish were very complicit in basically slave catching and helping with it. But any historian that brings this up, he's banned, like there's literally banned books in Poland when it comes to this stuff.

Polish people are more liberal than you think.
Only 29% people attend church every week, its down from 50% in 1990. Nearly half of young people sign out of religion classes in high school.
And even amongst these 29% people there are many who dont fully agree with bishops in politics.
Basically we need a priest to give us religous funeral, marriage, christening to our children, first communion and bless our food for the easter.
This is more a tradition rather than religion.
By turning more right how many people could liberals steal from right wing? Not much I would say.
And they also need to keep their voters mobilized. If they put a right wing candidate, some of their voters might stay home instead of choosing between two conservative candidates.
PiS is not conservative because they get voters, but PiS is conservative because that's how they internally mobilize themselves to act, its a part of their story, party identity.
People in Poland mostly dont give a fuck if politician is left or right wing, they want: more money for themselves, more social spending, less taxes, better government services, better healthcare, infrastructure investments.
Whoever convinces people "we are the best at these things" will win.
