I am going to say this again. It is protest shit.
It went from a well meaning protest and became BLM Hong Kong Style not only did these dumb ass protestors fuck shit up and now we can't even protest anymore.
They destroyed family lives, broke up friendships that were build over decades, beat up old people, throw Molotov Cocktails, loot shops and trash windows of local business whom they think do not agree with them ( Yes loot shops like BLM because I SAW IT WITH MY OWN EYES), when they don't agree with your point of view during a civil debate, they surround you and beat you to a pulp ( 10 versus 1) etc etc.
Yes... The protest is shit.
So what happened after ? CCP says thank you to NED and USAID because after all these shit, tons of Hong Kongers who doesn't really like CCP started to support the central government. Good Job.
Remember you and I discussed about Max Weber in regards to the Economies of Protestant North, Catholic South and the Orthodox East in Northern Europe, Catholic South and Orthodox Eastern Europe
Philippines are majority Catholics. Not that Catholics are bad at any sense of the word, but it seems they take a lot longer to move forward but they will get there eventually , they are just going through a dip for the past 200 years or so.
I think a lot of inventors and great people from EU are probably Catholics and let's not forget that during the height of European Colonization for it's initial part, Spain and Portugal are Catholics.
That being said Philippines do not have that culture that EU have, it might sound racist...something to do with their cultural stock.
It's true that the vast majority are Catholics, and even the ones who aren't Catholic generally still imbibe & exhibit the Catholic culture. My girlfriend's family is Protestant (Salvation Army associated) who are from the same region and highly associated with Marcos (who I believe was Protestant), who of course through his policy brought great advancement and wealth to the Phillipines. But her families culture I'd say isn't distinguishable at all from the typical Catholic culture, just that they go to different churches.
And I guess there's still alot of political division and little unity, Ilocos Norte is quite different from the south
