Far leftist anti-Israel sentiment didn't start after Oct 7, it was incubated & festered within Western universities for decades and decades, and was enforced by shutting down any dissenting speech. You couldn't get away with publishing any pro-Israel literature in universities, you'd be shunned fired cancelled everything they could possibly do.

There is definitely merit in that.

I went for 6 years in recent years so I witnessed this first hand. And that dissenting viewpoints were not tolerated.

Free speech died in the USA when the left denounced anything that did not fit their agenda as "hate speech."

Hunter Biden laptop is a perfect example. US citizens banned from Facebook and Twitter right before the 2020 election for sharing a story that 51x former intelligence officials claimed had "all the hallmarks of Russian disinformation." Whelp, turns out that the laptop wasn't Russian disinformation... all those officials are political hacks and as soon as Elon buys Twitter everyone cries about how now there is more disinformation on the platform. You can't make this shit up.

Hate speech has gone from actual racism and threats etc to "I hate what you said, so its hate speech."

Facebook banning you for saying something (anything) does not violate free speech or your rights. It's a private institution.

The government arresting you for protesting against Israel does in fact violate free speech and your first amendment rights.

You have no legal protection against social media moderators or mean words online. You're supposed to be protected against government persecution for speech that is covered by your rights

It's not dead as long as there's people that still uphold that value. If you deem yourself right wing and also deem select groups to not be worthy of free speech you're not better than that of whom you take issue with.

If both sides of your guys political spectrum decide free speech is not important anymore I guess that's that.
