Repeating:

I’m not sure that doing what you are SUPPOSED to do to get paid or be a non despicable human being is “contributing to humanity”. What has he done that has affected the world as a whole? Can you without question say he’s made a difference in every corner of the world?

when you contribute do you not get paid?

Sometimes but not always. The most significant contributions to humanity were usually made out of creativity without the intention of income. Does income come often? Yes. However Kaku does it because he is being paid. He wouldn’t do it if money wasn’t involved.

The other part is this teaching in general unless he holds a class in every country in the world somehow is contributing to society not humanity because it’s localized. Contributions to humanity effects the world over.

For instance Einstein’s discovery of the relationship between mass and energy. He wasn’t being paid for it. He was goofing around with something he loved on his off time while working as a patent clerk yet several of his most important discoveries effected the mathematical, physical and science world FOREVER.

It's going to trash America to stop with the special treatments?

No buddy, no it won't.

What special treatment do you talk about? WTF how is this part of the equation ? it is punishment for not sharing information about their students right to protest on campus ... it is like ghestapo tactics ... Yes it will trash America as we count on the worlds genius to keep us on top... When we lose that we screwed fast lol

The “no kid left behind” and “push them forward” style of education the US has is what is keeping them behind. These systems were originally designed to not “seem racist” but were to help underprivileged minority children continue education. What this style of education did though over the years was bring down the ENTIRE group.

Now we have kids graduating High School who only read at a 6th grade level.

I'm an English teacher for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students. The idea that minority children bring down everyone is like a weird racist fantasy.

Most adults don't read anymore. Schools are underfunded across the board. Jamming 30+ kids in a classroom for one teacher. Parental engagement is low across the board.

Another great example of contributions to humanity is Benjamin Franklin who refused to patent or charge for any of the inventions he made yet many changed humanity as a whole.

Someone being honest and doing their PAID job is now considered a contribution to humanity? Jeez the bar is low. Either that or you are confusing contributions to society as contributions to humanity.

Let's expand on this. Jamming 30+ kids into a classroom that look at you with glossed over glassy eyes that all receive instant gratification via short-term media on a minute by minute basis while not in class that now have to suddenly pay attention to something for an extended period of time that is not short form media and does not provide the same level of dopamine that is being feed to them from their handheld device. Literally from waking up and looking at a cellphone ingesting short-form dogshit meida, to falling asleep at night with it under the pillow.

I volunteer each year at the high school to take kids out fishing and its incredible, I could not imagine viewing it overtime as a teacher to see the absolute decline of attention span.

As a teacher you are now an inconvenience between looking at their cell phone.

Yes and I'll say this, parental engagement and culture are a huge factor to this too. Teaching abroad my students were much more willing to pay attention, say good morning Mr., say please, thank you, can I be excused, etc Students here are so often entitled and disrespectful because they learn it from their parents.

I do not envy teaching right now. I am not one for a reason, id lose my cool. Parents giving teachers grief need to take a good look at what their child currently does with the time out of school and how they ingest media because soon kids wont be able to read short novels or its going to take weeks because they can read 2 pages at a time before their mind wanders off again.

Doesn’t mean it’s a contribution to humanity. By definition it is not. It would only affect the people around that person.
