they advance but get crushed by atlantic teams far worse than what the leafs have. this will be 14 straight losses in the conference finals since 2005 or something lol.
toronto plays against the atlantic teams and loses in 7 games 99% of the time aside from 5 games to florida, the same year canes got swept lol. the canes getting slaughtered whenever they get matched up. how can this not be compared?
Florida is just a brutal matchup in the second round no doubt but it's still 9 straight years of failing to get to the 3rd round.
Still stand by that being a level of futility unmatched.
What I would like to see is a return to the old playoff format and regular season schedule.
Then we won't have to have this conversation because a weaker team in a weaker division is not going to get an easier ride to the deeper rounds of the playoffs.
As much as it pains me to say it, I feel like the Leafs would have quite a bit more playoff success if they got to experience this format and could actually bring their A game for game 7's.
