They don't have 5 core players who have failed to advance to the third round 9 times in a row. If you add Tavares it's 7 straight with that core.

That degree of futility with a core group is unmatched I would say.

That being said with Carolina getting blown out again right now, I think they do need to make changes. They match poorly against Florida.



If I can give Toronto any credit it would be that their playoff losses have often come to eventual cup winners and runner ups.

Many years they have not had an easy path to advance. With that being said when you fail nine times in a row I can't see any justification of keeping things the way they are.

toronto plays against the atlantic teams and loses in 7 games 99% of the time aside from 5 games to florida, the same year canes got swept lol. the canes getting slaughtered whenever they get matched up. how can this not be compared?

Still stand by that being a level of futility unmatched.


What I would like to see is a return to the old playoff format and regular season schedule.

Then we won't have to have this conversation because a weaker team in a weaker division is not going to get an easier ride to the deeper rounds of the playoffs.

As much as it pains me to say it, I feel like the Leafs would have quite a bit more playoff success if they got to experience this format and could actually bring their A game for game 7's.

old format yes it would be better lol. im not defending the leafs at all, im just saying other teams are just as bad but are not getting attacked for it
