The maximum term age should be a function of average life expectancy, not median. The positive trend in median and negative in average simply means the rich are literally able to afford to live longer.


Also, all representative should be subject to frequent and random regular drug screening.


Edit: Also would pin elected officials pay and benefits to a function of their local jurisdictions performance

Yeah I noted that in the post replying to Goom. There's a massive difference between age expectancy in your top % of income. Its wild to me that the USA's poor can have a life expectancy of that of some third world countries.

My job can and does random drug tests for insurance purposes or when an accident happens on the job site.
People who fail or refuse are fired.

I see no problem holding representatives to this standard.

Term limits will never happen as long as seniority is rewarded. Look up senate hideaways. The oldest senators have secret rooms all around the capitol that are like mini palaces. Also, when an old politician retires that means hundreds of people lose their job and thousands lose their influence. None of them want that. It's better to have a corpse of Thurmond, Feinstein, McConnell or Biden.... than to not have a seat at the table.

It's gross cause these people claim to be public servants for life but the reality is they don't want to give up that power. The exact opposite of Cincinnatus or Washington.

instead of term limits or age limits for congress, maybe we set term limits on life like the vikings. once you hit age 80 you climb to the top of a cliff and jump off to enter Valhalla with a warrior's death.

We've all seen the mental freezes of people like Biden, McConnell, Feinstein, etc. I don't know what the answer is, age in itself probably should not be the only factor. I mean look at Trump. Old as fuck but still super active. Just gave a brilliant speech in SA got the royal treatment secured investment commitments into the US (whether they actually materialize is another story).

Point is, as of right now it's obvious Trump is fine and has lots of vigor, but i do agree that generally the avg age in congress should move down. We probably need term limits, not because of the age problem but because those entrenched in there for decades cater to special interest and that's how they actually get the reelection dollars.

Interesting take. I think that goes with being a "big name." Kinda like how Theranos had a shitload of big names on their board so no one questioned it or how the Marshall Plan was not George Marshall's brainchild, he just has the best reputation. Also, Colin Powell lying to the un general assembly.

It takes a lifetime of work to get there, so may as well put it to use.
