This post is a violation of the site rules and appropriate action was taken.

Your brother would want you to carry on and be at your best

Drinking and drugs lower your faculties, in exchange for a temporary numbing or euphoria

The only way to live your best life is that your faculties are super bright. That means making choices to keep yourself as healthy and fresh as possible.

Sounds boring, the good habits you make have longterm benefits but cost you the “now” euphoric satisfaction / pleasure sacrifices

The bad habits you make give you that “now” pleasure and euphoria at the cost of your longterm benefits

shup up dumbass

Men drink in times like this to be able to carry heavy shit like this and numb the pain. Totally appropriate and anyone that has been through it would understand.

Sorry for your loss dude. Think of the good times and be strong for the loved ones around you, the only way.

He said he doesn’t want to relapse on booze, would you encourage someone who is susceptible to spiraling back into addiction to drink? Think clearly man

I’m sorry to hear this and thoughts for you brother. As many said not your fault. As someone who deals with depression myself there’s times where no matter what anyways says it doesn’t make a difference. Look for some support

my youngest brother killed himself on mothers day around 9am...he was 23 years old.

im trying so hard not to relapse on booze but its fucking hard...
wish i would have been a better older brother, i tried to be the father figure but obviously i failed...

/endrant

Hope everything works out for you. I relapsed after 9 months back on March 12th.
I regret it. A fucking lot. But I felt it was the only way from me killing myself. I tried other drugs and whatnot just to stay off the booze.

No matter what happens, as hypocritical as this sounds, it's not worth it brother. I wish I didn't go back. But I'm fucking wrapped back in.
Feel free to get ahold of me anytime if you want to chat. Chin up brotherman <3

Hey bud. First and foremost I'm so sorry for the loss you and your family are enduring. There is nothing that I could imagine that could be worse than losing a loved one, especially in that sort of way.

Please keep in mind though, that you truly are not responsible in any way, shape, form, even fractionally. It's natural to think about the things you could have done differently, no doubt, but it's not fair to place the blame on yourself, when the reality is there is probably not blame to throw around.

I've dealt with MDD my entire life, I've had suicidal thoughts nearly every day since I was 13. I'm very familiar with this kind of thing so if you need to talk to someone to let it out, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

I don't know why he chose to do that, but I know for a fact it is not your fault.

Love ya bud, hit me up if you need to

Id assume he is saying that because the guy needs someone to talk to not someone to tell him drinking and smoking are bad.....

You are not anyones mom or dad lol just say you are here to talk or not and you wish him the best.

I think thats why you got that response haha.

Sounds like you and he are just mad about encouraging someone not to turn back to the bottle

You can live without the crutch of numbing yourself, you’ll be happier and you’ll be processing the grief instead of escaping yourself from it

Take it or leave it
