The tough decision.
Going to wait on other people to post more selection. out of the first two(2) posts, there are only two(2) anime listed that I have not watched: Tomorrow's Joe & Garden of Sinners... I am guessing only subbed, but will take the time to watch them.
I have a ton I would put in the top 5 equal with others, the genre is different. Thus as an example would to say Action (or Martial Arts or Kung Fu ignoring Waring or Super Powers, the list would change.)
Inuyasha is like super power action, or is it Spiritual ... so maybe some Taoist Martial art type anime would compare. DBZ is spiritual right, also Martial Arts and people want to have Goku / Gohan etc vs Superman OVA or ONA's ... Superman is not a Martial Artist (Kung Fu etc. Damn the list goes on, even with New Anime released in 2000+. Hunter x Hunter... action as well, not really Kung Fu right? Hajime no ippo is pure fighting Action... boxing with historical fighters techniques combined, no super powers or spiritual powers.
Sub genre categories would be better.
