ive personally watched possessed nutjobs cutting down their huge trees in backyard and turning them into mini totem poles.
they actually believe it will grow back too from the butchered stump or that a house looks good with no surrounding nature.

Also he is juxtaposing Redwood forests with common pine, because nobody cares about logging pine.
Those forests are just going to go up in flames the first wildfire that hits because they are so loaded with fuel from BLM management.

I felt a similar way until I started seeing the lumber supply.
It's grains are not as tight and thus makes for weaker wood that is more prone to warping.

Back in the day, lumber had a tighter grain, it was more difficult to drive a nail or screw into.
This stuff they use to build homes now is grown in about half the time and it really shows on the quality of the wood.

All the more reason to cut down that old growth.
