Burying stories of importance because they may upset your viewer base or puncture the carefully crafted version of the world you’re trying to sell is bias. There is really no way around it.
Sure, but that doesnt address what i said. both sides of the media do this. if an illegal immigrant kills a woman while she's jogging Fox will do 3 solid days on it, and MSNBC wont do even one segment on it. many such cases.
what im saying it both sides are relatively equal in their bias, and both sides are relatively equal about their selective coverage. its more noticeable for fox because they have ALL of the right winged coverage, whereas left wing coverage is split between several networks.
overall my point wasn't that selective coverage doesnt lead to bias, i think it does, even if its just its own category of bias instead of something like spin bias. you seemed to state that there is asymmetric bias AND coverage selection, and that's simply false.
