Most people stat Vitality the entire climb on monk and use dex robe/charm.
The reason for this is that monks can only use robes, and a high EE robe is nowhere near as effective as a medium or heavy armor with EE. Most monster damage is physical, and robes defense is skewed heavily towards magical damage reduction, so with a high EE robe it’s only going to be helpful against monsters that are casting.

Oh wow, that’ll be very different then!

I suppose abilities that charge with hits taken will be much stronger on Monk than on any of Barb, Samurai, or Paladin since I’ll be getting hit constantly.

I’m guessing Double Strike is pretty much always used, but do you use 2 or 3 total abilities as a solo monk? I could see powerstrike and retribution both being good, but i would tend to think power strike will still charge faster even with light armor?

Yep, when Monking I typically put one point each into Doublestrike, Powerstrike, and Retribution. After that I pump them up one at a time in that order until satisfied. I can’t remember the exact numbers I shoot for, but wanna say it’s like 70 Double, 50 Power, 50 Ret or somewhere around there. I put one point into each one first just so I don’t accidentally fat finger the wrong ability and mess up my abilities.

I am the odd ball, I only solo, I only like using Heavy Weapons and I use Healing charms on Barb/Guardian (for the Heavy Weapon setups and EES gear I have), Samurai

I solo, so I use Salvation + Retribution ... since I only use +Stat armor, and at higher levels, you will take damage, and at higher levels it takes longer to kill monsters ... Salvation to Heal ONCE and continue Attack (if you have the right EE heal type charm and base 30 Int) ... also, the reverse happens, you keep healing yourself while charging up Retribution so you can kill off that EP or annoying last monster. The 3rd reason I do this... Proficiency gain using Healing has a 78% change to gain +1 prof point vs Melee attacks being 18-20% chance (based out of 100 monsters killed).

30 Base Intelligence ... 125% EE heal type charm(s) @ levels 25, 35, 45 and 55
100 Base Vitality ... giving you more defense, +4 total Life Regen (base) and Physical Defense
XXX Strength ... REST, if using Clubs, Swords, Axe or Batle-axe which have higher Strength Ratio to these weapon types.

+Stat (str) Armors (25, 35, 45 & 55) you can opt for a level 45/55 armor with 40 or more intelligence (plate or chain pref) ... cheap armor. to help with healing capacity.

You need to practice and test for your play style.

Note: people have not mentioned this ... Retribution / Power Strike / Power Cast are extremely powerful in damage, now the damage diminishes based on the amount of monsters it attacks.... Two Hit Back is half damage (example: damage split by two because of two monsters). So, Multi strike damage is also weakened by amount of monsters attacked, same for Knockdown (3 max) or Retribution (6 max). Not sure if it is coded specifically for divided damage based on maximum of the Ability, or by the amount of monsters appearing on screen.
