On pally I would go power/retribution/2hitback. Multi is trash on solo imo, so these are the skills I use for any class melee up until monk then I switch retribution for doublestrike.

Go 80-100 vita and rest in your dmg stat str or dex depending on weapon.

I do same as him ;)

I really wish Twohitback charged with weapon!

So you would generally recommend just playing Paladin as a worse version of fighter / barb it sounds like. At least I’m familiar with those

I was really hoping Paladin specific abilities would be more worth using to mix things up. Or at least that intelligence / healing on him would be very strong. Guess I’ll have to wait for Warlock to mix things up :bouncy:

Paladin doesnt have any good ability for soloplay, it's mostly a tanky support (but none really plays it as support anymore unless early season and desperation for someone to heal :D

Monk is alot better for solo (ability wise) but a much weaker class instead, so u will notice that it's nothing close as tanky later :P

I like this. I'm going 15 in str followed by 35 into vit, and rest into str.

Intelligence is a fake stat

I would suggest to go vit first, then str.
Points in vitality will scale you life as you level "Every Level Up you will gain an amount of life equal to your base vitality.", so the sooner you get more vit stats, the better you situation will be at higher levels.
At low levels, you should be fine without the extra str as the monsters will be easier to kill.

Are you sure Vitality doesn't give you the extra life per level retroactively? The only reason I ask is I tried to test it last climb by starting with str and didn't begin stating vit until level 40 and, and every time I added a point to vit it would give me hp equal to my level.

Assuming it does give me the same amount of hp when applied retroactively I like starting with str first for the first ~10 levels because I don't need any extra hp at that stage, and then I start adding vit until level ~40 so that I get all the defense benefits by the time I really start to need it. And from there everything else goes into str again :)

You are correct and Vitality works retroactively. I always stat vita last as you don't need a ton of hp early levels :)

E/ only vita from the Sneaky objective works how Julien is describing. And ofc vita from gear gives no additional life!

Okay awesome, I'll keep doing it that way then :) I feel like I end up needing to sandwich the vitality in the middle a bit, but my gear is not good :)

Double Strike for Monk does look like it will be a very nice ability, which will be a welcome change after Paladin and Samurai!

For Monk, do you put extra points into vit and still target 80-100 total, or do you have to lean into damage more? Only having access to light armor is going to be rough!

Most people stat Vitality the entire climb on monk and use dex robe/charm.
The reason for this is that monks can only use robes, and a high EE robe is nowhere near as effective as a medium or heavy armor with EE. Most monster damage is physical, and robes defense is skewed heavily towards magical damage reduction, so with a high EE robe it’s only going to be helpful against monsters that are casting.
