Hey all,

I’m starting my first Paladin climb and looking at his abilities and im looking for advice!

1) for a solo climb, should I ignore healing/intelligence? In this case I would probably go 15str > 35vit > remaining str. Would abilities be something like: Holy Cross > Revenge > Powerstike?

If I am ignoring healing/intelligence Paladin seems like a slightly worse version of Barb with 5 less str and vit.

2) if I should not ignore healing/intelligence, what stats / abilities / gear should I use? I’ve never done anything with intelligence, healing, or charms before so assume I know nothing :bonk:

3) in general, how strong are Paladin abilities relative to other classes? For example, Samurai’s Multistrike ability looked like it would be amazing, but I felt like it did very little damage.

Thanks as always - excited to try him out :)

I’ll use all of swords, clubs, and axes.

Interesting, so none of the Paladin specific abilities are worth using? That is disappointing!

Multistrike felt mediocre even as a Samurai. It’ll probably be a bit worse even if Paladin <_<

As for healing, how does Salvation actually work? Does it just enhance your heal charm for a one time mega heal when it is activated? And does it scale with intelligence? If so I probably need to invest in heal charms that have either str or intelligence…

Is stating intelligence for better heals worth taking points away from str and vit?

This is a lot to consider! But more options = more fun :D

people will suggest paladin abilities, just what i use

Salvation is the same principle as powerstrike, let them hit you up and when you get a little low on life, switch to heal charm and set it off. Yes more int, better heal But if your lacking heals then i wouldnt bother.

I almost always skip multi in all solos, power/double abilities are normally alot stronger.

I'd probably go only power/ maybe retri ( or even twohitback still )
Go for 80 vit ish rest str

I have no heals whatsoever, so that may be the deciding factor for these first few climbs!

I really wish Twohitback charged with weapon!

So you would generally recommend just playing Paladin as a worse version of fighter / barb it sounds like. At least I’m familiar with those

I was really hoping Paladin specific abilities would be more worth using to mix things up. Or at least that intelligence / healing on him would be very strong. Guess I’ll have to wait for Warlock to mix things up :bouncy:

Monk will be a lot different for you when you reach it. :D
But yeah in general, you’re never gonna stat Int on a melee toon unless you’re gonna offcast on a melee character (meaning play as a caster with EE charms on a melee toon). Afaik, very few people play hybrid builds these days though, and you’d really need some good gear to make it viable.

Oh, and grats on the pass. Very nice pass rate so far. :D

id pick paladin over fighter everytime. Can just keep your same weapons and whatever armor and stat charm. If you find some decent charms then can "mix it up" on the next climb.

On pally I would go power/retribution/2hitback. Multi is trash on solo imo, so these are the skills I use for any class melee up until monk then I switch retribution for doublestrike.

Go 80-100 vita and rest in your dmg stat str or dex depending on weapon.
