Im playing on singleplayer, and i have found what i need for a fortitude to my merc. But the only base item i have is a 4sox Ornate plate non eth 446def. my question is if i should make a non eth fortitude. it will have lower def, but then i can swap it with other melee charecters i make?

You can definitely find a better base in a few minutes.

Ideally, non eth AP so you can share it on about any character you need or merc.

Could be any elite light armor base.
Just go farm a few games of hell cows with the lowest possible amount of mf.

Well just farm anywhere you can with high density, low mf%.
The base is much more easy to find than the runes

Ornate is not a light armor, so you get frw penalty, and its 170str req.
If you ever want to share it on a bowzon or something that won’t be good at all haha

Try pit or arcane sanctuary. Easy for lightning just avoid archers in pit

use the runeword treachery instead. it is mathematically better, and cheaper. your welcome.

"mathematically better" except in reality treachery mercs die 10 times more often

This, especially in SP with fix maps an even shorter runs, you need long runs to make Treachery shine over Fortitude.

With a good chara tho mercs shouldn't die with any of the 2 anyway.
