Hi experts!

Is there a more up-to-date list of objectives, how to trigger them, and what is required for completion? I have read this: https://ladderslasher.d2jsp.org/index.php?g=18

Obviously a few details have been omitted in the link above :)

I would love to engage with these side quests during each climb!

Thanks as always

The minimum player count is good to know!

So far (only my second climb) I have leveled almost exclusively by whistling rather than exploring the catacombs. Do I need to have more specific information on each quest, or will exploring the catacombs completely be enough as long as I have the required number of players, character level, and quest prerequisites?

Thanks again :)

You won’t run into any unless you’re exploring (walking around in the Catacombs).

The very first one you should complete is Explore the Maze. You complete it by finishing a maze. Usually around level 2 you’ll complete the first maze. This one is important because it gives you more inventory space, which means you can hold more stuff (namely shrineables). Most of the others are random encounters.

Yes, I did that one right away and since then have done nothing but whistle :bonk:

I am now going through my second maze (started at 51 - still progressing through by 54) and completed the bits and pieces quest. I'm guess there can only be one objective per maze?

Also on an unrelated note, the loot from the maze seems to be MUCH better than the loot from whistling (especially once you factor in chests). In future climbs I will probably whistle until level 20 or 25, and then start running mazes from that point on. Is that what you veteran players do?

You can get multiple objectives per maze.
And yeah, definitely don’t whistle an entire climb. Whistling to anywhere from 25-40 is fine. I’ve been starting to explore at 25 recently myself, but I change it up every now and then. This is a great event to explore for chests; whistling is robbing you of lots of whites/skillables that could earn you some fg to put towards new gear.

As stated, best to explore for rewards of those Objectives you can get while solo'ing. Note: Maximum # of Objectives that will be listed is 3.

#1: Explore the maze from level 1, if you fall in a Trap door, it is up to you to carry on, just note that the catacomb SIZE you explore now will most likely increase from a 5x5 catacomb to a 6x5 or more.

#2. Once you get first objective, and are still like level 1 to 8, you can OPT to Whistle to level 10 and then start a new Catacomb to open up a Maximum of 3 Objectives ... which are:
... Pinch (level 6 requirement) ... also Note: Disable Easy Mode to ensure a chance of 3 EPs to spawn.
... Bits (level 7 requirement) ... you could whistle this if I remember correctly, but also get while hunting for Pinch
... Hack ... again, Disable Easy Mode to ensure max 3 monster spawn.

#3: Some people whistle to level 12 ... note, you won't be able to complete Face the Evil... this will still appear in your Objectives list to Master Quest (Solo) ... Stop the 7 Shamans will be another nuisance in your maximum of 3 in the list.

#4: Melee doesn't work on Soften the Sneaky Shell, just casting... you may want to avoid this one or ask for help from others and create a game to join in to kill it for you or exit game and remake catacomb to remove it completely ... even from your list.

#5: Treasure Pest is an EP (single) ... you may want to use Easy Mode while exploring catacomb at higher levels... up to you.

#6: Or you can join a group that is willing to carry you and they may whistle to a set level and then explore to get objectives.

Good luck and have fun... oh... Ambush, you can complete that if you are lucky to get objectives done earlier.

This is very helpful - thanks! :)

Someday I'll have to try a group climb and see if we can check off all of the objectives in one go.

From 55 - 61 I have been going through the same maze and it does not seem like there is any end in sight! Is it pretty typical to have one maze that lasts from 55 - somewhere in mid 60's / 70? At this rate I am pretty confident I'll still be running this maze by at least level 65

Unless you really care about maps, there’s no shame in resetting a maze if you get a bad teleport trap or just get a bad roll on your maze where you’re constantly having to backtrack to get to undiscovered squares.

Here’s an example of what I just encountered. I’m going to reset my maze here because I got a bad teleport trap trap and consider undiscovered squares more important than finishing this maze for what will probably be a shit map. :D
