I don't understand why you wouldn't just take a long-term job in the USA? It's not that hard if you have desirable skills and since we're under a tax treaty you're not eating double taxation.

Seems straightforward.

I could and it wouldn't be too difficult with my qualifications and skills, if I did I'd move to Washington state since it's really nice (outside of Seattle), but the primary reason is that I'm unmotivated by cynical self interest.

I could write about more reasons, but I have deep empathy for others & a strong sense of justice. Living in downtown Toronto did something to break me witnessing the sheer volume of human suffering. It's not out of self interest that I want Canada annexed into the US polity, it's out of empathy for young people here and their suffering. Young people are dying off en-masse of deaths of despair and our government doesn't care a single bit. And our government is completely beholden to China.

On another note, if I was motivated by self interest, I'd move to Asia since Asian women treat me like gold (a very attractive white man), would never have to work a day in my life with ultra wealthy Asian women wanting me as a husband and have the opportunity to gold dig

There's undoubtedly obnoxious individuals from most cultures, Eastern Euros at resorts, North Americans in South East Asia, etc. Americans are just going to get the label because they represent the largest amount of visitors from North America and without a doubt there is some cultural differences. Flag jackers are those who are usually pretty cautious individuals, and individuals going into your less established accommodations lets call it. Is it needed, no, you can likely just show curtesy, show you care by learning some language and customs ahead of time prior to visiting and be polite and no one will care.

But it is still a thing for sure that's alive and well.

I wonder what our resident Singaporean friend just out of curiosity thinks the average person thinks of visiting Americans. Probably not much but i'd be curious.

^Hamsterbaby give us your ranking on top 3 worst visiting countries.

For me in Canada, fucking Ausies on ski-hills. The lifties and staff are amazing which are all ausies, the wealthy ones visiting on vacation, man they can be brutal. Tossing beer cans all over the hills. So in that sense, its class level not where they are from.

Yeah India in national parks here is bad. Watching them turn their back to a grizzly on the side of the road sub 50 feet away in Banff makes me want to see Darwin do his work.

Visiting ours / yours.

If visiting mine ( Singapore ).

Indians and China Chinese mainly.

Most white people who visit Singapore are here for work and highly paid Expats so they are less likely to act like a dick, although there are some who act like a dick every now and then.
Muslims from Middle East who visit are mostly the rich ones.

The rapey ones don't dare to visit Singapore because we will cane them and jail them for max 24 years and 24 strokes of cane if they are found guilty.
Drugs are illegal in Singapore so a lot of folks from the West might not like it.
500 Grams of Weed is Death Sentence.

Nothing much to do and visit in Singapore really. But mainly Indians and China Chinese are the annoying ones. The Indians are the worst, the Chinese on the other hand are willing to spend.

See this is simply not true. You are not at a trade deficit with Canada per capita. You are free to look the numbers at yourself. This is the 2023 data since the 2024 data is not out yet: USA imported 476 billion from Canada. Canada imported 440 billion from USA. A total trade deficit of 36 billion USA has. But per capita is entirely different.
476 billion divided by 340 million citizens is $1400 per capita of imported goods per US citizens. For Canada per capita is 440 billion / 40 million, $11000 per citizen. We are at a massive trade deficit per capita. This is not “creative thinking” , this is the reality and the facts.
The total dollar value is not a fair measure, it only is of the populations are the same. That’s why per capita is used in every economic sense.

Trade deficit per capita for you would be (440B-476B)/pop which is negative therefore a surplus

you import $11k per person but export $11.9k per person therefore you have a $900 surplus per capita

Just because you import more per person than we do doesn't mean you have a deficit per person because you export more too.

What you are calculating is not trade surplus per capita but imports per capita. You can't ignore your exports when talking about a surplus... sorry but you are wrong

Using your numbers Americans have 1.4k imports per person and 1.3k exports per person and therefore a trade deficit of $100/person

Again not trying to be rude but you must go off the definition of the equation of deficit/surplus which is:

the amount by which the value of a country's exports exceeds the cost of its imports.

Again, you are using the “total numbers” which makes no sense. That’s like saying the USA has a trade deficit with me individually. Obviously it’s 340 million importing compared to 1 person importing. The same logic applies to a country as a whole. 340m million people consume more total goods than 40m people. Therefore the “total imports” for the 340m will always be greater. OBVIOUSLY WE EXPORT MORE TO 340m people than we import as 40m people. 340m people eat more food, need more clothes, need more gas than 40m people. Is this so hard to understand? You are calculating the per capita values incorrectly. This is basic economics. Honestly you are just proving my point from my original post, most Americans blindly accept what Trump says or truly don’t grasp the economics.
I’m done here.
