We have a trade deficit with you. No amount of creative thinking leads to anything but we import more than we export and this is still true per capita.)
See this is simply not true. You are not at a trade deficit with Canada per capita. You are free to look the numbers at yourself. This is the 2023 data since the 2024 data is not out yet: USA imported 476 billion from Canada. Canada imported 440 billion from USA. A total trade deficit of 36 billion USA has. But per capita is entirely different.
476 billion divided by 340 million citizens is $1400 per capita of imported goods per US citizens. For Canada per capita is 440 billion / 40 million, $11000 per citizen. We are at a massive trade deficit per capita. This is not “creative thinking” , this is the reality and the facts.
The total dollar value is not a fair measure, it only is of the populations are the same. That’s why per capita is used in every economic sense.
