Yet the market moves and everyone is saying the sky is falling.

was just thinking about this, looking over the last month on various stocks.

Nobody is making a peep now, yet two weeks ago the world was ending.

----
even China stocks have bounced back in hopes the tariffs will come to an end soon.

My gut tells me that Trump's attempt to de-spaghetti the world economy is not as easy as he had hoped.
But it did shake things up and bring people to the table. Including china, even if they have to save face in public.

I think that's more because most of the world views him as a blustering idiot now.

But still in the most powerful position in the world, which would make any market uneasy.

Too much rapid back and forth, u-turns, totally disingenuous announcements, clearly still bowing to the corporate overload. I don't even think his most dedicated supports right now could say this all seems like the gameplan.

You go back to the initial, what we thought could be and there was clear merit to it. The tariffs on Canada for instance, as a Canadian do I enjoy it, no but clearly it did force our gov't to allocate more money to the border, a non-trade outcome which is what I thought these tariffs were going to be for, and that makes for a compelling use-case. The blanket across the world tariffs and screaming absurde numbers across the pond at China, it detracted from everything.

There is a tariff use case to be made when it comes to getting non-trade related outcomes and I legitimately thought at the beginning that's more what it was about. And to some degree it worked to his credit with Canada and Mexico but then it kept going and not only is the use case starting to get lost, I think a lot of initial support is as well. Probably even from internal advisors.

SBD, You're sending mixed messages. NOW you believe the world views him as an idiot. But in 2016-2020 you NOW think it did not?

People have goldfish brains if you have not noticed all the causes humans get riled up over that are forgotten about by the next year.

It's like Musk. I firmly believe if he stays out of the spotlight just a little while his vehicle sales will bounce back.

Idiot, is not a good word on my part, clearly he's been successful in life, not an idiot. Egotistical, self indulging to the point of self-destruction is better.

True, what 3 marriages, convicted of tossing hush money at a por"t" actress, marries nude magazine lady. Republican values really have changed course.

Not honestly surprised to see young conservative men support such behaviour though, its a new wave. Death to the nuclear family, females are a use case only.

Lets be real, the guy is not the embodiment of good values. Most politicians won't be. And there's users on here who would openly acknowledge that about him and still support him. Someone like Void for instance, because he believes he will create or at-minimum move the needle to create a better future for his own kids, and that's fair enough, and a far more responsible view than trying to make him out to be an altruistic, good guy embodying good family republican values or honesty and integrity for that matter.

Better to just say he's a slimeball but the slimeball and fuck you to Washington we need right now, or thought we needed.

let's not gang up on SBD :(

He did make a good point about gold fish brained humans.
Lest we forget, trump shut down the economy and introduced anthony fauci to many american's lives, then became a vaccine salesman.

No one is perfect

He's not a perfect man but he's nonetheless a great man, the great man of our time at that

We are called to put down our arrogance and trust in his judgment.

You're welcome to go back to the golden age,
I'll have you for dinner,
call me Hannibal Lecter.

The enlightened will eat the beasts of burden.

China never really got in this scheme, the ccp runs it's own show.
