Get a gtx 3070 or gtx 4070/ti if the price is right.

They hold up pretty well for most games and don't break your bank like 5080 or 5090.

I have an EVGA 3070 FTW3 since Jan 2021. Does the job for 2k and some 4k pretty well.

i think league is more cpu intensive you would end up having to build a new pc cuz for 4k need better video card better cpu psu to run those and prolly a new mobo for newer gen support. a 3080 and i9 would probably work idk tho 144hz at 1080p would prolly have less input delays then 4k 60

What would you recommend for replacing an amd fx8350? I don't need a high end gaming rig setup

it honestly depends on what your current motherboard supports its an am3+ socket so it may have good upgrade compatibility but it also may not thats why unless you really future proof you have to end up building a new pc just to upgrade a few components.
there is a few free programs that can identify exactly what parts you have like speccy or cpuid

could prolly get like an open box pre built cheaper then what a new cpu and gpu would cost. also get warranty and can finance sometimes its a better option esp for people who dont want/care about building your own.

thats an example cheaper deals can be found but that card on amazon is 350-400$ alone a good motherboard is like 100 bucks cpu is like 85 good psu 80+ is like 70-100$ you are already looking at 700 bucks and you have to build it yourself add in fans case storage and easily 900

There are thousands of secondhand pcs for him to choose from that would meet and exceed his requirements that cost like a $1000‐500.

Rtx 4060 is a downgrade from 3070 and costs the same.

It doesnt take a genius to recognize that his pc is too old or low perfomance to handle 4k. So unless he is homeless or works at mcdonalds he needs to upgrade that toaster ASAP. Otherwise settle for 1080p

Yeah you are not wrong i just looked for an example to price everything out a 3070 is prolly best performance to $ card you could get right now. grab a good ryzen 7 for like 150 and it should do 4k just fine
