Next month, as every year will be the "Monerun" (or also called "Monerorun) to celebrate monero's birthday on April 18th

It's been few years that the "conspiracy theories" been proven of exchanges supressing the price by doing market manipulation on their own off-chain websites, reporting fake volumes and don't have the reserve they're supposed to have
Binance and those other centralized exchanges been stealing customers funds from people that dont withdraw to their own wallet

April 18th been a date to raise awarness regarding those practices happening in the cryptoworld from those centralized entities that hijacked what cryptocurrencies were meant to be (Peer to Peer decentralized digital cash)

When people buying AND whtidraw in mass, those exchanges dont have the reserve they're supposed to have (they should have 100% of cutosmers funds but don't) so their replies to this is straight up blocking withrdawals.

CZ (binance CEO) did AMA on reddit, the top upvoted comments been about their monero reserve which even being the top comments on those AMAs been completely ignored years after years

Those centralized exchanges been running fractionnal reserve scams, their "proof of reserve" is PR stunt and completely bogus, only Kraken been having an actual legit and audited proof of reserve which their CEO also spoke against those practices from Binance and such

This year's post on /r/monero

Code
https://reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/114dqgq/monerorun_on_april_18th_audit_of_reserves/

Last year's post on /r/cc:

Code
https://reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/u3jozd/the_monerun/

The Monerun inspired similar events in the cryptoworld to raise awarness regarding those practices

As every year, monerun will happen on April 18th again

tldr:
If you dont have the private keys to your crypto then those coins do not belong to you but the exchange that have the keys and dont share them with their customers
So.. Just the yearly awareness to no leave funds in exchanges but to withdraw them yourself to the actual blockchain

Not your keys, not your coins
Dont use centralized exchanges (CEX) but decentralized exchanges (DEX) such as https://retoswap.com

Edit:
Also, centralized exchanges actively share surveillance data about their customers with blockchain analysis companies
So by using a CEX you're actually harming the privacy of other legitimate users of the technologies
CEX are a threat to the cryptoworld, shouldnt even have been a thing in the first place, has no place in the space and should be avoided at all cost
If in 2025 you're still using centralized exchanges, congratz on being a dipshit without a spine

Kabus v1.0 Released: Open-Source Monero Marketplace Script with Walletless Escrow

Hello everyone,

I'm excited to announce the complete version (v1.0) of the Kabus Monero Marketplace script. I've been developing this script from scratch for almost 10 months.
4 months ago, I announced the first working release on Reddit with this post:
Code
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/1hzs0q5/introducing_kabus_script_an_open_source/
Since then, I've improved the script in many ways, added tons of features, and most importantly I finished the walletless escrow mechanism. A lot of people helped me during these 4 months, so thanks to all of you.

+ What is Kabus?

Kabus is a plug-and-play marketplace script built on top of Laravel 11. You can use it as a base for your Monero marketplace or as it is. It includes all the general Monero marketplace features you might find online. Everything is included, and all payments/refunds are made with Monero. It is free and open-source. Just use and spread it!

+ But why exactly?

I wanted to contribute to the Monero ecosystem by providing a foundation for building privacy focused marketplaces. I want to see Monero rise, thrive, and be more widely used.

+ What's next?

I will continue to update Kabus by adding new features monthly, and I will keep improving security and the UI, though not as frequently. I've set new milestones for myself without strict deadlines, and I'll try to implement them in my free time.

I would love to hear your feedback on new features. I will note down your suggestions, but there are already many feature requests, so it might take some time to address them.

Before using it for commercial purposes, remember that Kabus is not battle-tested yet. There might be vulnerabilities that I'm not aware of, so please audit the code yourself and notify me if you find any issues.

If you find Kabus interesting, don't forget to drop a ⭐ on GitHub (https://github.com/sukunetsiz/kabus) and consider donating Monero to my address on GitHub :)

You can contact me via email or Session if you need further help or want to discuss paid collaborations.

FCMP++ Coding Competition

The Monero community is excited to announce the launch of the FCMP++ (Full-Chain Membership Proofs) Optimization Coding Competition!

See all contest details here:
https://github.com/j-berman/fcmp-plus-plus-optimization-competition

What is FCMP++?
FCMP++ is one of the most significant privacy enhancements to Monero since its inception. This upgrade would improve sender-privacy from 1 in 16 to 1 in over 150 million while maintaining compatibility with existing wallets and addresses!

About the Competition
We're looking to optimize the performance of two critical libraries used in FCMP++

This is your chance to make a direct contribution to Monero's future while competing for 350xmr (~$70,000 at time of writing) in rewards and global recognition.

FCMP++ Optimization Competition

The contest will open for submissions Monday, April 28th at 17:00 UTC, and we will stop accepting submissions Monday, June 30th at 17:00 UTC!

The goal of this contest is to provide optimized implementations of helioselene:
https://github.com/kayabaNerve/fcmp-plus-plus/tree/develop/crypto/helioselene
and ec-divisors:
https://github.com/kayabaNerve/fcmp-plus-plus/tree/develop/crypto/divisors
While any method of achieving faster performance will be accepted, the following scopes of work are highlighted.

helioselene uses crypto-bigint:
https://github.com/kayabaNerve/fcmp-plus-plus/tree/develop/crypto/divisors
for its arithmetic. Replacing its field arithmetic with a tailored implementation will likely provide significant savings. The prime used for the field introduced by the Helios/Selene cycle is a Crandall prime with fast reduction algorithms available accordingly.

ec-divisors performs polynomial multiplications/divisions which are quite expensive without an FFT. While we can't assume it'll be used with curves which are FFT friendly, it would be valid to define a trait to specify a FFT-friendly multiplicative group to use with a curve (so long as such groups are feasible to find for arbitrary curves). This would enable implementing ECFFT:
https://arxiv.org/abs/2107.08473
reducing the computational complexity of ec-divisors.

Requirements
  • 1. Implementations must run in constant time.
Implementations will be reviewed for a variety of non-constant-time operations:
    https://bearssl.org/constanttime.html
All branches and memory access must be constant with regards to the secrets operated over. We do assume shifts and multiplications execute in constant time.

Additionally, code will be run through wasm-cycles:
    https://github.com/j-berman/wasm-cycles/
to verify a constant cycle count when compiled for wasm32v1-none. This is incomprehensive to certain issues such as cache side-channel attacks, yet represents an automated way to eliminate some types of non-constant-time code.

  • 2. Submissions must be written by the submitter and licensed under MIT at time of submission.
Code written by third parties must be included as a properly attributed dependency and not directly submitted. Code generated by LLMs also will not be accepted.

  • 3. Submissions must compile with both Rust stable 1.69 and 1.84.
Usage of nightly features is not allowed.

  • 4. Submissions must support targets with alloc yet not std.
wasm32v1-none is the provided example of such a target. If the submission builds and runs on it, it meets this criteria.

This requirement does prevent the usage of threads which are expected to be used at a higher level by calling code.

  • 5. Submissions must not have platform-specific code.
While various intrinsics would produce the best performance on their respective targets, the point of this competition is to create baseline libraries usable regardless of context.

  • 6. Submissions must not include any unsafe code.

  • 7. Dependencies must be pre-approved.

Please create an issue requesting to use a dependency, or contact @jberman:monero.social on Matrix. We will approve dependencies on a case-by-case basis.

  • 8. The total maximum source code size is 1 million bytes.

  • 9. Submissions which rely on tables/caches built at time of compilation must contain code to deterministically reproduce those tables. This code must be able to be called at runtime.

This reproduction code is counted towards the total code size. If a table/cache cannot be built at compile time, then the time to build the table will be included in the total runtime, amortized over 10 thousand calls.

  • 10. Submissions must pass the provided test suite and run with the provided benchmark.
Modifications to the test suite and benchmark are not allowed, except for adding/extended trait implementations for elliptic curves tested with the ec-divisors lib.

  • 11. Submissions must score at least 20% better than the reference.
This is the baseline performance improvement target intended to disqualify trivial submissions.

  • 12 Anonymous submissions are allowed.

Judging

Submissions have a joint score based on:
  • Their benchmarks while running on a machine with specs listed below
  • Their cycle count from wasm-cycles

Machine specs (we may use a different machine with similar specs):
  • AMD Ryzen 5600G (your code must not take advantage of the integrated graphics)
  • Debian 12
  • 16GB RAM

Submissions which allocate more than 96 MB of WASM pages will have their score decreased by 10% for each additional 32 MB allocated (allocating 96.1 MB will face a 10% penalty and allocating 128.1 MB will face a 20% penalty).

We reserve the right to select a winner based on our discretion, and rule out submissions for reasons we may not have identified above. For example, if the fastest code has issues we did not identify above, we may select the 2nd fastest code. We aim to ship the winning code in Monero.

The judges will be:
  • @j-berman
  • @jeffro256

Judges provide a good-faith promise that we will not participate as contestants in the competition.

We may add judges in the future at our discretion.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask in IRC/Matrix #monero-dev, or create an issue.

Prizes

The best submission for an optimized helioselene will be awarded 100 XMR.

The best solution for an optimized ec-divisors will be awarded 250 XMR.

How to get started

For helioselene, visit helioselene-contest: https://github.com/j-berman/fcmp-plus-plus-optimization-competition/blob/main/helioselene-contest

New Haveno mobile app currently work in progress
For desktops see: https://retoswap.com that has been up and running since last year

I'm happy to announce that a new Haveno mobile app is in development. I'm developing this myself and building it from scratch in .NET MAUI Blazor. It's currently a standalone application so no remote node is needed. There are some limitations with this, so the plan is to add an option for a remote node.

Currently it only works on Android but I am open to bringing it to iOS and maybe even desktop if that's something people want.

This is still a work in progress and I don't know exactly when it will be ready but I will keep working on it as much as I can:)

We're currently seeing RetoSwap (Monero DEX) overtaking Bisq (Bitcoin DEX) by trade volume.

This might be the most important signal (and a wake up call to Bitcoin maximalists), that Monero is taking the market by force. A little too late, I would say.

Bisq was one of Bitcoin maxis poster childs, still supporting the narrative of censorship resistant money outside the system. Since Bisq refused to add Monero to Bisq2 in a timely manner despite having been responsible for 80% of the trade volume (and trading fees) this is not a big surprise.

RetoSwap comes with zero trading fees, better privacy and now even better liquidity.

Monero is basically embodying what Bitcoin set out, but later only claimed to be.

https://coinpaprika.com/exchanges/bisq/

Well.. I guess this is it, Bitcoin officially lost to Monero

It started with Monero overtaking Bitcoin on specific markets on which people's lives actually relying on those technologies that nowadays those people aint even accepting BTC for risk of actually loosing their own lives

Then it also overtook Bitcoin on the fully legal markets side of things as well
(and not just shopinbit but also coincards, silent link and so on)

And now the OG Bitcoin decentralized exchange "Bisq" (that it's volume was already 83% Monero 17% Bitcoin anyways) is being overtaken by the Monero fork of it "Haveno" (on its current network RetoSwap (previously known under 'Haveno-Reto'))

Bitcoin lost the plot many years ago already

Happy Monero birthday
and happy Monerun (tradition every year to withdraw en mass from centralized exchanges to expose their shady fractional reserve practices)

Been using Bitunix and MEXC for all my poo coins
They both have decent lists

Quote
Kraken ($217) vs MEXC ($215)

https://www.tradingview.com/x/be8hLPHX/

MEXC
Code
XMR - Withdrawal is not available

Guess MEXC failed the community audit and exposed as griefters
This thread documented when Binance delisted XMR that they pushed the price way way down, blocking withdrawals while leaving deposits open
Since the delisting from last year, monero's price doubled

tbh, when even trusted mediator on this jsp forum using centralized exchanges that are stealing their customers money... thats just depressing lol

tldr: stop using centralized exchanges, they're all shady, literally all of them

meanwhile Haveno is opensource, trustless decentralized exchange that been running for a year now: https://retoswap.com
