Was researching electromagnetism yesterday.
Long story short: person floats off the ground because of an electromagnetic force.
Just like how a train can levitate off the floor using opposite magnets, the occultist generates a coil of electrical energy, which at certain voltages can create a North and south Pole within the human body. That opposite magnetism basically floats the individual off the ground because of the electromagnetic force.
By creating electricity, the occultist also creates magnetism from earth and floats by being opposite in polarity. What high school physics teaches us is that all magnetic force also produces electric force and vice versa.
This can happen through blood magic and mental switches that changes the blood levels to become less salty / more conductive . This electrical field with practice can be used to create the effect of levitation.
Our bodies are electrical. Heartbeat is electrical and happens when the battery in our muscles receive the right salt concentrations. This also makes sense to explain the body as a magnet and why sexual attraction can be fatal.
