tbh the UK is the one that is getting the shaft more than literally anyone. consistent defense spender, left the EU, fought in the middle east with us, and consistent good trade partner. its about the only country i feel really sorry for. then again what you all did to william wallace maybe its just karma. should have beheaded the monarchs too.

Exactly. We've been bending the knee to our big brother for decades, a country whose culture, history, ideology, religion, and race are entwined with ours. We've never gone against the states. And we got slapped with a 10% tariff :bonk:

while i agree, there's a bit of humor in someone complaining about 10% when China got slapped with what? 145%?

if i was going to start charging all of my buddies for beer, because they come over and drink up my entire fridge, i'd charge the fat guy 2$ per beer, and i'd charge my light drinking best friend 25 cent per beer.

Your country has desecrated freedom of expression, which is sacred to America

What exactly do you expect? You'll shape up and renounce your communist ways or continue to be straightened out

I'm not a fan of the blanket tariff. They should be targeted and strategic and specific.

I do wish your country would shape the fuck up and stop throwing people in jail for saying mean words. That shit is fucked and scary, and makes me want to give France a reverse tariff just for helping us kick your asses in the revolution.

I and many Brits did not agree with the government or police response to the riots. Like I'm sure you didn't agree with many of Biden's policies. So what?

The capitalist and democratic system America subscribes to is derived from Britain. A good 80% of your culture and philosophy comes from here too, including libertarianism (heard of John Locke?). And don't forget the language we're all speaking ;)

While our small island of 68 million people fcould never be a power in the post-colonial modern world, it's still the cultural and historical centre of the Western order, and should be respected as such. Even by Cleetus's like you boys.

What do you mean "so what"? So you get slapped with a mild 10% tariff. If your government continues to oppress the people, they'll continue to be straightened out. If you don't like this, overthrow your government.

I'm from the UK and a believer in the now-dead Empire. Since the Empire is dead, now the Empire can be reborn under American leadership since the people of Britain have fallen to sin and decadence.

And lol, the UK had not been the cultural capital for a long time, since atleast the end of the war. Historical yes, but America is the cultural capital. There's nothing left in Britain to respect, you guys are honestly contemptible and pathetic

What do you mean 'So what?' We voted Biden out of office. Yet you keep going back for more and more punishment from your own government.

The UK is still a regional power and its potential is hamstrung by its politics, not it's geography. No one gives a fuck about your history in regards to respecting your country now. You want respect, act respectfully.

By the way, you speak of your country's legacy and history - but I'm fairly sure that you'd be one of these zilches who claim that the USA is the way it is because it's an extremely "young" country. But I have argued that since we were a British colony, we brought centuries of English/British history along with us, we didn't just materialize out of nowhere. So, I will be singularly impressed by the feats of your distant, far greater ancestors, if you show us the same courtesy.

To vote him out of office, you had to vote him into office. That's how it generally works. Obama was elected twice, who I assume you also think was a mistake. So you made some mistakes in who you voted for, like we have. So I will ask you again - so what?

We don't care about respect, this country is cooked anyway. We care about reciprocity. That's why the tariff thing is fucking stupid, because there is already equal trade between the countries, there are 'friendly relations', collaborations on bombing the fuck out of the Houthis, following you on your disaster wars in the middle east and getting our soldiers killed when the rest of Europe ducked out, etc.

If none of that matters anymore, it makes sense for the UK to stop being the bridge between the US and Europe, and just move closer to Europe. Have another referendum and rejoin the EU in a few years. At the moment our government is bending over to you and then bending over to the EU. Getting fucked more times than Bonnie Blue.
