Also, it's pretty typical for a new manager in a corporate setting to be ready to eliminate any old workers right before retirement to help save the company money and make themselves looking good.

Is he the boss of the whole company? If not, I’d seriously consider taking the test—not because you need to prove anything, but so you can document that you cooperated.

Then, I’d write an email to the highest boss and explain calmly and professionally that you're very concerned about this behavior. Let them know you felt uncomfortable and that this incident has made you think deeply about your workplace, your position, and your general well-being there.

dont act on revenge or be stupid yourself. that behaviour he showed there is not even acceptable in the slightest.
if you are angry now and upset, take some time to sleep over it. take a day off, or maybe 2.

Hey there!

I had several discussions about the existence or non-existence of gods and other supernatural beings on this website and on other websites as well and I always enjoyed those discussion, I like the topic.

I myself do not believe in all those claims and therefor am not a member of any religion. This topic here however is not opened to discuss that. I know most people believe in gods or at least one god and thats fine.

I made this topic because of an incident at work. I work for a company for 25 years now and we got a new boss this year. The guy came into my office today and asked me why there was an empty box were my religion should be written down in my personal data files.

I said, that I am not part of any religion and his face went numb.
Thats crazy! he says. Why is that?
I said, I dont believe in any religion and thats it.

Dude went out of my office and I got an e-mail from him 30 minutes ago. He kind of politely asked me to do a test in a few days. He is openly concerned about my moral capabilities and wants to make sure I dont do anything in the future that could harm the company.

Can you believe it?
I am in a high position in this company for 25 years and have no issue with anyone at all and this dude questions it all because I am not religious.

Not sure what I should do now. I guess, instead of doing that test, I'll write an open letter to all my colleagues. We are almost all friends, like and trust each other and certainly stand up for each other. What would you guys do?

Yeah, you and many others who responded are absoutely right I have to keep revenge out of this. I have to keep my cool and calmly respond to this. I will make that test and go an instance further afterwards adressing the issue. He's our new boss here, but he's not the company CEO.
