Another one just came to my brain because I sit on so many Teams meetings. "Lets take it offline"

Fuck, no lets get it sorted right here, now.

A specific one.
We use small factor form PC's, like pretty tiny.
5/10 people call them "modems" when referring to their computers.
Not knowing it is actually their PC.

I have reason to believe you don't have a boss and as a squatter you just steal belongings that were left behind

Your reasoning for that is completely made up in your head and a you problem. Go fix yourself.

I had a boss and mentor once, and he was old school, pushing 70, and he would do that and would ask you what you were up too this weekend and then ask you to work the weekend. But, he always just happily tossed random 3-5K raises at you throughout the entire year. Could be 4 or 5 times. No dumbshit annual reviews, just if you are performing and working hard, here have another bone. Call you in his office, good work, thanks for doing that, hand you a nice letter.

Eventually all the old partners got bought out and it turned into the annual review shit but still being asked to work weekends and evenings. Believe they called it "One Firm". As in were all one. I was done shortly after that.

Oh and annual reviews with HR rather than with your actual boss. HR's little performance review checklist, tick box.

i just dont remember any phrases. my last job i wont be specific because folks will just say im lying. it was probably the worse job i ever had. not because it was physical it was just loads of irritating bullchit bad pay and high risk. to get the job done you were on your own. except seems like every office worker seemed to think they were the brains of the operation and some how your boss. the would mail you all kinds of direction at times. then you would ignore it and do what was needed to get the job done.
a lot of amusing memories.

The option for partner was there but that one firm stuff killed it for me. The years prior we operated primarily in silos with performance being contained to your individual silo. Everything changed after that with your equity payout pool being pooled with every other office across the country.

I had little interest in the poor performance of others dragging down my annual distribution, nor did I agree with firm wide spending on what I deemed to be non-constructive. Things like paying for DISC, personality assessments of all staff, overly expensive marketing campaigns that clearly had no real returns, team-building events where offices are flown across the country to lavish places like Whistler, Jasper, Banff. All of a sudden those decisions were going to reduce my annual payout.

No thanks, I much preferred operating in a silo.

We already know what you do.

That does sound like a fun game, though. Give random examples of your work tasks and have people guess what you do for a living.
