So I was at the doctor yesterday and ran into this man (veteran) and we had a full blow conversation that started with “Thank you for your service”. It ended up on him explaining he’d rather be at Scott & White hospital using his tri care than the VA. Ranting about the VA, their “shitty” doctors and services.

My question is how in the hell do we expect to get socialized medicine and services in the US when the largest medical facilities and insurances the government is already in charge of is a failure? What makes any sane citizen think they wouldn’t screw up a new system?

The US Healthcare system is propped up by research grants and Medicare/Medicad which is socialized medicine.
However no political party will ever rescind these benefits as they would commit political suicide.
Take away the above you will displace hundreds of thousands of medical professionals.

Regular Joe's with "Health Insurance" don't go to the doctor because they can't afford it.
Many Americans receive health insurance through their employer.

The only ones making money are the health insurance companies.

This doesn’t address the issue of the ONLY government ran programs are completely inept failures.

VA
Medicaid
Medicare
Tricare

All used only out of necessity and not by choice because they are subpar facilities and programs. Bringing others down to poverty quality is not the solution to the country’s ineptitude. Instead they should be working on the quality of these programs before even thinking about trying to convince anyone that socialized healthcare is the solution.

1. Veterans prefer private facilities over the VA if given a choice.

2. Canadians with the financial ability prefer getting major treatments in the US if they can afford it.

Where as Medicaid is absolutely a failure. You have people missing limbs denied Medicaid and Disability until they’ve literally harassed the system 3-4 times. People needing dialysis that have to apply multiple times before being approved even with medical documents.

All these programs and facilities are currently subpar and only useful to those truly destitute and if ever forced on people who aren’t would bring down quality of life overall. Remember that the US poverty % is 12%(maybe less).

It's all health insurance red tape

Any form of socialized medicine incentivizes unhealthy behaviour

Unhealthy behaviour & actions has a natural disincentive mechanism, which naturally encourages healthy behaviour in alignment with God.

Socialized medicine must *only* apply to diseases outside of the patient's control (autoimmune diseases and whatnot) and NOT self-imposed illness (which is basically EVERYTHING).

That’s the problem. In Canada healthcare may be free but it’s subpar in quality compared to the US.

I don't know what that word means in this context, but if you mean to say there's a free market for health-care in the United States that's about as far from the truth as you can get.

He is talking about literal obesity I assume. It’s mostly because of the fact the average American can afford more luxuries.

1. Most Americans don’t have to toil in fields or do a ton of heavy lifting because we have machines that do a lot of this crap nowadays. It’s also a huge part of why the Auto industry gets outsourced Human bodies simply aren’t needed.

2. The average American can afford more food than they really need still.

3. Because of where the US is situated in order to ship food it has a ton of preservatives and other terrible stuff in it that deteriorates the body.

4. Taking care of one’s body doesn’t scare many Americans (which is dumb) because the healthcare system will attempt to save their life even if they are uninsured with no income and just “sends them a bill” they never intend to pay. (Thanks for the free liver gg type of shit)

It's really because alcohol in the US is so dirt cheap

Alcohol is poison, the most destructive substance to society that straight up makes people fat through direct conversion of ethyl alcohol -> acetaldehyde -> acetic acid (the basic building block of fat, acetyl CoA)

Heavy sin taxes are necessary
