pretty sure its encrypted for hackers you would not be able to set up or operate the machine without looking at the code. maybe if fully automated but what happens if something crashes no one would know what to do. idk how high end you are talking about but ive been running cncs for like 5 years doing custom parts would be impossible to do without a console and i can copy each line of code with pen and paper while it runs

You can operate them that doesn't require a specialist any engineer or technician can run them. But if you want to fix it you call in an authorised specialist. So effectively you are buying a license to use the machine. Just like buying a d2 on a cd you can play it but the bug fixes and expansions are done by blizzard.

depends on the machine really ive done all kinds of repairs i even seen a dude catch a machine on fire and break the spindle we replaced it in house ive run a few different kind old and new ive helped repair a few. none of these were super high end but they still are like 300k each for the small ones. the actual software the machine runs is super tricky tho if you mess around with that you will have to call a tech

Oh that's like small time shit. No the video is talking about machines that are ±$10m alone where just to install it would cost $3m. We are talking about state of the art high precision machines for spacecraft and other mega billion‐trillion dollar industries lmao.

yeah i watched the video after my first comment. ive run some of the Japanese ones they talked about in the video but we were not hitting aerospace tolerances we mostly had a .003 - .01 tolerance we could have if we properly set up but most places dont really care and just want speed its lame never get to test your skills
the ones in the millions are just bigger versions of the small ones made by same companies can hit same tolerances and need to be installed by them.

Maybe you are right I don't know everything about them. I just see them as high tech that is made difficult to copy. Especially the internal code what happens if a chip inside gets damaged you can't just get a replacement from Amazon.

you have to order one from the manufacture and in that industry machine makers dont last long so good chance its discontinued leaving you to figure it out on your own ive run brand new machines and huge ones from the 80s you could get used ones really cheap for that reason cuz no one knows how to fix them. one mistake as an operator can cost thousands in damage
