What "deep shame" am I supposed to feel?
you expressed a lot but since you brought this up.
You don't have to feel shame, there is no pressure to feel sorrow or regret for ones own actions.
Based on your wording, you don't feel sorry for posting a graphic video that may have offended someone from a different walk of life.
I on the other hand, feela weight on my shoulders, the people whom I interact with are actual humans.
They have their own real life and I shouldn't ever feel like I'm justified in any harm towards them.
The consequences of my actions can reach further than what is seen.
So to pull this back a bit,.. People are all from different walks of life.
Just because they express a personality on the internet doesn't mean they are that way in real life.
Both give and take, I would never want anyone on this forum to feel my actions caused them distress in any form.
That's the difference. I cross a line, I stop and think about my actions. I try to do better.
My last negative interaction, all week ++ I thought about what had happened and the user, hoping I could find a way to resolve it.
Sometimes it is better to just let things rest, other times it's better to apologize.
Either way, I felt bad for what I did. Which is in no way an excuse.
