waste of a robot!

99% of all packaging has a sticker in the exact same location. no need for 3 dimensions.

further about 90% of all conveyor lines run dedicated product sizes, either 1 product ALWAYS, or 1 product per day. so you set up the labeler and boom you're set.

i actually just got asked about a job where the customer has 3 robots on a line but wants a new similar line no robots. i asked what the robots did, and it was all big time robot tasks. i was then told i need to do all the same tasks but purely through mechanical means, using only limited air drops for pneumatics. i said fuck that, and then they sold the job anyways lol.

That's what I was trying to say. In a past life I enabled some labelers to talk on etherCat

lol ya im unnecessarily anal on the term "robot". with everyone but my 4 year old daughter, who i tell all the time i design robots, because she thinks they're cool. robots are cool, conveyor lines are boring lol.

It shows

No, you don't understand.
In America the factory workers that operate machinery are retarded, and they gut all the capacity for production with safety features.
Which drastically lowers production capability, you don't see this in Asia, and they make up for it by offering garbage wages.
It's also a shit job not because your attention is so low, waiting for the machines reduced speed safety feature you get sleepy.

The New Robot Salesman will always sell automation even if he knows its not going to work out for the vendor and their product, due to tolerances not being exact.

I was a human palletizer on the output side of an icecream factory warehouse service freezer for a few summers as temp worker . I've got some clue. Mind was blown when I saw palletizing machines at a bottling plant.

Most workers were petty dumb though. One guy lost a finger in a machine, but still doesn't follow safety

Im not a salesman of "robots", im an engineer for "robots". when they dont work i have to get on a plane after getting chewed out by our CFO and spend a few days away from my family fixing it. which is why i dont mess up much, its great motivation.

The US can isolate itself from China and Europe. However, the US cannot stop the rest of the world from trading with China and Europe.

If your market size shrinks from 8 billion (the world) to 300 million (the US population), you will make less money as a producer. At the same time, if your enemies get to sell to 7.7 billion people, they will make more profits and advance faster than you over time

The only way to justify tariffs is if you believe other countries will cave in and give concessions to remove tariffs. No one, not even Donald Trump, believes tariffs should just stay forever. He is telling you that tariffs will be temporary pain

Well yeah the Tarrifs are supposed to just be the US way of saying “Hey come to the table and let’s talk”. If it will work is the question.

Not accusing you of being a salesman, I'm just saying they will always sell it as a solution, even when they know the tolerances on the product aren't tight enough.

i can tell you as an engineer who does about 50-75 projects per year i have run into that issue only a handful of times. 99% of products are plenty low tolerance that just some adjustment makes for a good fix. all of the issues we've found are VERY fragile product, VERY high rate of line speed, or VERY small products. for most of what is produced its not an issue.
