The US can isolate itself from China and Europe. However, the US cannot stop the rest of the world from trading with China and Europe.

If your market size shrinks from 8 billion (the world) to 300 million (the US population), you will make less money as a producer. At the same time, if your enemies get to sell to 7.7 billion people, they will make more profits and advance faster than you over time

The only way to justify tariffs is if you believe other countries will cave in and give concessions to remove tariffs. No one, not even Donald Trump, believes tariffs should just stay forever. He is telling you that tariffs will be temporary pain

I mean, yeah they can if they really want to

Not a single nation anywhere can challenge the US Navy which has global hegemony over the seas.

The average tax payer doesnt care if Apple makes 100bln income or they dont.
The reason there are tariffs are because there is a huge difference of labor cost.
If a Chinese/Euro/India guy gets paid 30-50k per year, but you need to pay 100k to American guy doing the same job, then its obvious companies will outsource to cheaper countries. If USA does nothing, there will be not much jobs/skills/workforce actually left in USA. Sure the USA has accumulated wealth, so it can keep going, but its risky strategy.
The question I have: isn't it too late already? Does the USA still have enough necessary qualified workforce to revert the outsourcing and redo the USA production?

yup. for most things. they'll just be heavily automated and CNC operators will be employed in larger numbers than chinese factories. still if you had a factory in the USA in the 1970s that employed 5,000 people, then it moved to china and it had 5,000 people, then it comes back to the USA and employs 500 people that's 500 more than you employed before.

USA population is 24% the size of China's population.

Even just based on that, 5000 chinese workers would be 1200 USA workers.
Factor in, not being paid like a slave, 500 usa workers is a good deal in that scenario.

the 5000 to 500 has nothing to do with population size in my example. its how many more processes are automated in a US factory compared to Chinese factory.

they literally pay some slave to sit there and put a sticker on a box all day, i use an automatic labeler. etc

Yeah its too late, might of worked if the Education system in the USA wasn't run by Liberals for the last 50 years.
I recall telling my teacher that school was a waste of my time in the 2nd grade, them making a big deal about it, and today I come to the conclusion that I was correct.

waste of a robot!

99% of all packaging has a sticker in the exact same location. no need for 3 dimensions.

further about 90% of all conveyor lines run dedicated product sizes, either 1 product ALWAYS, or 1 product per day. so you set up the labeler and boom you're set.

i actually just got asked about a job where the customer has 3 robots on a line but wants a new similar line no robots. i asked what the robots did, and it was all big time robot tasks. i was then told i need to do all the same tasks but purely through mechanical means, using only limited air drops for pneumatics. i said fuck that, and then they sold the job anyways lol.
