Do what you enjoy. There is no wrong way to play the game. The game lasts forever, you'll likely never hit the endgame.
Dont be afraid to die. PVM deaths result at worst a cost, but this likely will not happen until you have enough worth that you know much more about the game.
General tips
> Quests (Unlocks new areas, utility, and items)
> Combat (You should train ALL combat styles, as you'll eventually need them. The game is balanced around these. You will not ALWAYS be able to use one combat style.)
> Stats (Looking for quest requirements is often a good place to start)
> Dont worry about gold much early on, Stats are often more important compared to gear.
> Explore! It's what the game is about, the world is huge! Go somewhere you never been.
> Use the Wiki to find out answers to your questions. The OSRS wiki is one of the most well documented game. One of the greatest collaboration of a community that I have ever seen.
> Have fun. If you're not having fun, take a break. You will never lose your progress.
Honestly the best advice. I took roughly the exact same advice from someone on reddit when I started my ironman about 1.5 months ago.
I reached 99 FM via winter todt because a guide told me to do so, and then I kind of just went off on my own and exploring and doing my own thing has been such an enjoyable experience.
There are some nights where I just get minimal experience but figure out a few things and what not...it's just fun to play yourself and don't follow what others say is the "best/only way" to play.
