Interesting - I've heard this concept before, with less detail, suggesting that under 100 mf is the way to go because ultimately it's about the amount of KILLS PER HOUR and their ability to drop an item, over loading all your mf into a single kill.

After all of this, what would your strategy be?

Minimize mf? Ignore it completely?

Favour only dmg? Kill only elites and trash over bosses?

Honestly mf is fine. Maximize your clear speed and any mf on top of that is perfectly fine. I kind of agree with Brianpeppers here. Yes more mf will drop your chances slightly of truly insane gg rares (that you’re unlikely to find anyways) but will increase your chances of finding useful uniques like shako, soj, griffons, etc that you likely have a higher probability of finding. I guess I’m skeptical the true “best” way to farm currency is to dump all mf no matter what.

Plus probably my biased point of view, but as someone who only plays single player, uniques are generally what I’m farming for anyways. Rares are mostly worthless for pvm and there is no real functional difference in bases. Ie a 5os phase blade is essentially the same as a 5os/15ed/3ar phase (although online the trade value is different).

Yeah in sp mf is good.
My statement is greatly influenced by the jsp market and fast fluctuations in economy, as well as market saturation for common gear.

There’s many things I’d like to answer back to Brianpeppers about his last statements.
I sadly just don’t have time right now as this will require another wall of text lol

But for now, just to answer the “it lacks statistical evidence”…
Oh trust me it doesn’t.
I may not be allowed to fully discuss this here, as some subjects are just banned.
But let’s just say I distributed for years 3 of the most popular “banned subject” in the history of d2, which included a data collection fallback for anyone who used it.
With an evolutive pickit list.
The users were free to use whatever mf% they wanted.
Data was collected and sorted by mf% vs stashed items vs estimated value per stashed item.
I do not lack stats.
I do not just expose my subjective opinion on the subject.
This is backed by billions of samples ;)

Oh cmon bro dont play the "nothing good ever drops so dont even ID it" game lol. The part I underlined I dont think is true but I'd be interested if you could post something that proves otherwise. QualityFactor/UniqueFactor seems to greatly affect items becoming unique/set/etc. For normal mobs that number is 0 and would mean that even with lots of magic find youre still going

Nothing good ever dropped, so i stopped looting, now all the good items probably skipped.
:hail:
I would probably have tons of rares to post from 0 magic find runs, but I just cant find it in me to pick up all of them to check - id - check -
Need to level fast :')

Sorry for not contributing.
But pretty sure mf does not matter, Unless you are going for Unique items, thats when you want to max it out to even the rolls out a little for uniques.
If you want runes - 0 magic find is the way to go, im not sure if magic find gives Higher runes tho never heard/read anything about this so probably 150-200 mf is ideal for magic finding overall.

“Attention seeking” XD

You know I rarely ever mention anything about what makes me so deeply informed on anything d2 related.
Whenever I give up hint like you say, all I get is this type of comment anyway.

I have nothing to prove. I don’t feel the need at all tbh.
If I gave up any more info that could lead to identifying me irl, and I have way better things to do than to deal with the hate that would come with anyone seeing who is the real person behind this jsp username.

Another reason I’m not willing to disclose further data is simply because there is many sensitive user related info that I would need to parse from an archived database so huge it’s simply… not something I’m willing to do just for the satisfaction of some, or to shut the mouth of others.

Well that’s not the goal to trigger anyone lol

Sadly most people’s moto is hate

I’m just willing to help anyone I can, for something as simple as the love I have for this game, without any self-interest (I’m not even a jsp trader anymore anyway)
