Choosing between strength or dex really just depends on weapons. Axes can go either way, whereas clubs and swords need strength. I don't know heavy items off the top of my head so I'd look them up. There's really no need to go any stats in int unless you're actually casting. Personally I go to 100 vita and everything else in strength as I use clubs.

since you are using polearm, you’d want dex instead of str

idk what your weapons below the 55 polearm are but try to use axe which also benefit from dex

gotcha, i do go with clubs until 55 so that might be the play, is it normal to have to regen every 5 - 10 mobs at 66 tho, i dont recall that being a primary concern with previous classes tho, would it be better to change my ML charm to an MQ heal instead? might make things go by a bit faster....

never started or bought a single axe but i do got a 200ee mq sword which may be a better option if i am transitioning from club to an mq weapon needing strg

Using an actual stat charm, strength in your case with a sword, would be much much better than a ML charm. People have different thoughts about ML and that's a whole topic by itself. I personally would not sacrifice killing speed by using it at all times, rather just use it on killing blows for EPs or wells.

I don't use heal charms at all on solo. It used to be a strategy to put a point into salvation or whatever that heal ability was for a huge heal but when the monster ability drain came into existence I think that went away. 53 strength charm would be great to use.

Grats on MQ (75). Glad you did not pass to be honest, having a Paladin is kinda cool IMO.

Don't know what gear you use other than what has been posted. Pole-arm & your 200ee sword.

Simply put:

EE Weapon.
EITHER: EE or Stat (for your weapon ratio) Armor
Stat Main Charm (for your Weapon Ratio)
Optional: EE Heal Charm ... Note: with Base intelligence @35+ you can use this at Random times during combat while you are trying to exit cata)

Base stats are up to you, also when you apply those points when leveling with the items you use during your run.

Abilities are a matter of what you are comfortable with & your build with the items. The following is my Preference, not a guide for you.

I only use +Stat armor and + stat main charm(s) with an EE heal charm in ACC slot while only using +EE Weapons (Heavy preference)

Retribution (Barb Skill charges up with Damage or Hits Taken) ... 40% minimum
Salvation (Guardian Ability charges up with Damage or Hits Taken) ... 40% minimum

These are the only two(2) abilities I would use based on the fact of my build with 100 base Vitality, maximum of 30 Intelligence and rest to Strength or Dex... However, I use Battle-axe as a main because of base dex + str and whatever my Stat items give me, so I could use a Pole-Arm or War Hammer. And my ACC Heal charm is always the same level as my character level + with the best EE possible.

If pure Melee... the ACC heal charm can still stay and ignore Salvation ability... Power Strike + Retribution minimum 40% each... or Revenge + Retribution or Power Strike or all three(3) ... Revenge is also based on Stat Armor and only attacks the first 2 columns of monsters, the back column is ignored.

Play how you feel is comfortable... I choose retribution or power-strike because the damage it inflicts on a single monster, especially an EP.

Group runs... the creator of the run will specify your role... back, melee etc, thus your gear will play a role there.

Hope this helps in future runs... oh your 85 Vita build is more than sufficient with your type of play style.

I would also recommend you completely avoid intelligence, the 20 base is enough for healing. I also completely avoid healing on all melee classes especially after the mobs which remove ability charge making salvation worthless.
personally i recommend a minimum of 100 vitality. the run just feels better with that much hp and slightly increased physical defense is a bonus.
as pick said, you should pick a weapon type to use
Swords/clubs and their heavy variants - Strength
Staffs/daggers and their heavy variants - Dex
Axes do not care and can be thrown in with either build.
