I may misunderstand.. am I supposed to reserve my Ancients quest for the Grush and level to 40 (e.g. in Chaos or Cows?) or am I supposed to do Ancients and do norm Baal runs til 40?

Easiest is to get a crush classic rush then you don't have to worry about a bumper, druids and assassins cannot be crushed though

how is that the easiest option when there are 2 cl players worldwide

Lvl till 40 in norm, you can do ancients quest but not Baal. I usually level in frost till 12/14 then tombs till close to 23/24 and chaos until you reach 40. Can do ancient quest in there at some point for 1 automatic level once you get to 25+. I usually save it for a few more levels

you can get to level 25 in about 30-45 minutes and then do baal runs to 40, should have a bumper in about an hour and a half of playing or less depending on how many players are in game to boost exp.
