However I feel like this is not the only logic behind 1st post edit... There are times when I've posted a topic, edited the first post fairly frequently within a short timeframe on the same day and then the edit goes away?

Does anyone know the exact logic behind how 1st post edit works? (I did a search and looked through some posts but there wasn't anything that directly addressed this from what I could tell, if I missed it apologies and please direct me to that thread)

When you edit, the timer refreshes to be able to be edited for the next 72 hours after the edit.

off topic sections give a 30 minute post edit timer. or longer if you are a verified member.

my suggestion would be to just make sure to edit prior to the time limit expiring or in threads like this (actually considered to be illegal threads) to add a line at the bottom that tells viewers to check your lastest posts for updates.

not allowing people to edit the first post just makes people make more threads and increase clutter in the forums
