I don't really know if i'd want trump to declare he will buy a Tesla or call boycotts illegal. MAGA don't buy Teslas and I don't think you're converting that market to Electric Vehicles, seems like a segment you're not gaining ground. But I could be proven wrong.

We could be entering a new world where MAGA are happy with dudes in bikinis and driving electric vehicles. If so this would actually be some of the most progressive movements ever.

The Obama administration most certainly sought to align with Russia in order to oppose China together. It was right there in the stated goals of the 'pivot to east asia'. Obama had a direct stratrgic goal to serve American national interests and those happened to align with Russian interests. Mitt Romney famously criticized Obama as aligning with Putin and Obama retorted by saying the cold war is over and the 1980s called and want their foreign policy back.

Trump not only stated his strategic plan and why this realignment away from military confrontation and towards economic competition is in our national interests, he formalized that as the Trump Doctrine. Eight years ago. You are still today trying to engage in vain conspiracy theories about Russiaburger like its 2017. Its kompromat. Its collusion. He's actually a black widow agent named Krasnov. But whatever you imagine it is, somehow Obama doing the same thing for the same reason was a-okay and we can't possibly explain Trump's reason as being consistent with the reason he laid out as his formal foreign policy doctrine

Let’s be real. Trump doesn’t do strategic plans. Everything is directly transactional. I don’t think Russia has something compromising on trump. Trump has been pretty open about his affection for nearly every strongman/dictator in the world. I just think he wants to view himself as “strong” and wishes to varying degrees he could rule the US like those dictators do. Those folks are also quite willing to shower him with praise and from his vain PoV strongman dictators praising him is great and reassures how strong he is.

It’s really not that deep. He isn’t compromised and he isn’t playing 3284 dimension chess with the world. It’s just who he is and how he responds.

I mean he explicitly laid it out as a strategic plan, 8 years ago in his national security strategy document outlining principled realism;
https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/NSS-Final-12-18-2017-0905.pdf
Its anti-ideological, anti-tribal, results oriented strategy. Fight a zero sum trade game, win the peace through strength, contest resources and push competition.

Trump is pretty clear about who he is and what he wants.

I agree and that was my point.

I’ve got a bridge to nowhere to sell you if you think trump was heavily involved in the crafting of that document or even very knowledgeable about what is in it.

Trump is many things. Surely some good and some bad. But well thought out and strategic isn’t one of his strengths.

Does anyone find this alarming? The American govt can just dump you into a prison in another country without proving in a court of law that you are guilty of some crime. Hell even China goes through the motions of kangaroo courts.

More than 200 Venezuelans alleged by the White House to be gang members have been deported from the US to a supermax prison in El Salvador, even as a US judge blocked the removals.

El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele wrote on social media that 238 members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua had arrived in the Central American country, along with 23 members of the international MS-13 gang, on Sunday morning.

Neither the US government nor El Salvador has identified the detainees, nor provided details of their alleged criminality or gang membership.

A federal judge's order prevented the Trump administration from invoking a centuries-old wartime law to justify some of the deportations, but the flights had already departed.

-5.3 trillion damage to US markets in 3 weeks
-60% of trust US built up over last century lost, with allies from EU/Asia/NA abandoning trade deals/pacts en masse
- First time ever ketamine drug addict allowed to make governing decisions

You know what they say, when clown moves into a building, it becomes a circus
